Hope this hasn't already been posted - we've been linked to a midfielder from Rosenberg by the name of Per Ciljan Skjelbred.

Has anyone heard of him or seen him in action? Or does anyone know what kind of midfield he is? (I was kinda hoping he was of the defensive kind!).

I only saw him once against Valencia and he looked decent. I saw him as a playmaker with freedom around the pitch and good technique.

I'm sure Marty knows alot more about him and even rates him

I'm afraid he's a creative midfielder. :)

Being Norwegian (and a closet Rosenborg fan), I've seen a lot of him and wouldn't mind us signing him to be honest. He's got loads of talent, and could become a world class player some day. Might be a little too physical for him in the PL however. Can't see him replacing anyone in the current first team. Would be backup for JJ, and could probably do a job on either side if required to. Miles better than the likes of KPB, that much is for sure. If we could get him for 5 mill, I'd say go for it.

Yes, I do rate him. The guy has a huge potential but I don't see him as first team material for us yet.

He's a workaholic, runs for 90 minutes full stop and will chase all balls and harass every opponent he can get to, as has been obvious from his CL displays last autumn. Could potentially become a Jenas-style box-to-box player with more bite.
He can also be used quite effectively on the right in a Malbranque-like role cutting in from the wing.
But unfortunately DJS, he's not really a defensive midfielder. If that's what you want, Alexander Tettey, also of Rosenborg, is a young and very talented Norwegian player for that position. He is pretty much a Zokora-style player with a cracking shot, though again, I don't think he'd be first team material for us for a couple of years yet.

Im from Norway too but im pretty sure he wont be anything more than a squad player for us if signed..I have actually played against him 3 or 4 years ago.. nutmegged him too:) he can run forever but his passing and technique isnt spurs-worthy if u ask me..
He has a slight chance of developing it but i highly doubt it..

Cheers everyone who posted on here to clear my confusion!

But unfortunately DJS, he's not really a defensive midfielder.

Bah, that's a shame - ah well we'll just have to get Poulsen from Seville then!

I'm sure he would've been good enough for us today had he not been crushed by an Olympiakos player and suffered an 'Eduardo' when he was 18. Looked like a potential world-beater in his first season before that injury. Now he looks like he'll be good, but probably not top 4 PL level.

has been class on football manager for at least 3 editions. I always used to buy him on 06 and play him on the left. seems he's drifted infield since then.

Skjelbred isn't black, though.

He's good on FM, but I honestly have seen very little of him irl.
