There was a rumour of a 27 mill
Loan deal which could be interesting if on our terms

I'd rather loan Bale.

Edit; Seems people think Coutinho, who said he could never play for another English club after Liverpool, is a better fit than Bale. My bad.

Curious: in these loan with option deals, does any of the loan fee get rolled in to the purchase price? Like if we pay 27M loan fee, with a 60M option to buy, does any of that 27M go towards the first installment of the 60M option should we exercise it?

Yeah, can't see it.

Barca spent 120m on him so would consider him a huge asset, and an asset they can provide in the Neymar transfer. I hope we're not wasting our time here

I really hate to be that person but.... come on folks, Coutinho? Really? :ROFLMAO:
I don't think it will happen but Barcelona do want rid of him, eriksen would jump at the chance to be involved with a deal to Barcelona and he's on the same wages as kane, they pay £28m a year to Liverpool for him (that's why they asked arsenal for a £28m loan fee) , so a deal with eriksen would have to total £110m to break even with what they've already payed, £50m for eriksen would mean we would have to pay £60m, as I said unlikely but not impossible

I’ve said in Eriksen comparisons past that I think Coutinho would be an upgrade for us on Christian.
His ability to drop a shoulder and go past a man could be a real difference maker vs the ten behind the ball teams. Very similar to Eriksen in terms of passing skills although could play higher up on the back four. Arguably better dead ball too. Work rate the ? As Eriksen does do more than his share of km.

Obviously a serious replacement option for Eriksen right now.

If possible I’d try Eriksen in return for a two year loan with an option to buy.

Him and Lo Celso would make a seriously tidy lineup.

Coutinho Kane Son
GLC Winks Ndombele

That would be the dream transfer window

I THINK that it would be used to credit, but not on the future fee. So if they're looking for 80m, for example, it would be 27m + 53m option. It's like a deposit though. If you don't complete the deal, you've lost your deposit.

As others have said in various places, if I could pick two from the three of Lo Celso, Fernades and Coutinho, even the four with Dybala thrown in, id pick Lo Celso and Coutinho. Not that another combo of that group wouldn't be great too, especially at this point, but I think Lo Celso is probably the deepest lying of the bunch at least potentially, and Coutinho for me probably the most exciting. I mentioned before that this seemed like the wildcard move, and was always the more likely of the bale-type signings. As for those who say don't do it to yourselves, it's not like I am going to be devastated if it doesn't come off, this is all part of the fun. Also if we really want to move on we have to do moves like this from time to time, we can't always judge us based on the recent past. But we will see.

That would blow all the spending money I feel.

I think we’ve got £60m ish ready for Lo Celso
And anything we get (plus a bit?) from Eriksen for his replacement. BF most likely.

Granted atm it does look like we’re only likely to get one big name in ... so - all in on Coutinho!

If you have the opportunity to sign Coutinho for anything under £100m you have to do it IMO. Especially if Eriken is leaving.

Strange that players like Coutinho are stuck in their clubs. It always used to seem that the best players would move somehow if that's what they wanted. Player power and all that.
Now though, some of the best players around are apparently stuck. It isn't club power, as the clubs would be happy if they left too. Its the money! They get a contract that's worth so much that no-one else will ever pay as much, and then they won't take a pay cut, and so they're too expensive for any other club. This year the list has some pretty amazing names on it:

Coutinho (Barca)
Bale (Real)
Pogba (ManU)
Dybala (debatable, I think he wants to stay, but Juve seem to want him out and can't make it happen)
A Sanchez (ManU)
Neymar (PSG)

Its a rich club problem of course. Most of the biggest clubs in this situation now.

Personally think that Spurs won't pay enough wages to make Coutinho possible, and personally I think we shouldn't, as we don't have the means. If he takes a pay cut, fine, but that would be shocking. Pay cuts don't happen much before age 33.

Kia Joorabchian's his agent then this is not a simple transfer imo. Sure we've had difficult run ins with him in regards to buying or holding onto players? Unless I'm thinking of someone else?

I think I read that we used him to help facilitate the Ndombele transfer although I may be wrong.

I'd still rather GLC, really wants us, puts in a shift. Coutinho seems more reputation than substance to me. Liverpool sold him and then got much much better.

Gerard Romero, one of the most reliable catalan journalists, currently running a story that Barca and PSG are working on a Neymar loan + obligatory purchase option. No mentioning of players involved currently. As Barca wants to get rid of Coutinho very hard, this should not be the worst news for our chances.

Hope he just gets a grip again, in case we could land him. He played like shit the whole year in Barcelona while getting a lot of chances by Ernesto Valverde and had the fans jump on his back for his performances.

Mind you put to a scouser mate of mine who says he would take Coutinho back in a heartbeat to add some midfield creativity to the side
