For me he is all hype, he is good at scoring wonder goals but when watching him at Liverpool he rarely did anything in the actual game.

He is not a playmaker, nor is he a hard worker. If you dominate proceedings and you need to pull something out of the bag, he is an interesting signing.

As we only dominate sides who are down to ten men, we would be carrying him almost every game (think we have enough of them!)

Look at how son is playing at the moment and that is how I would see him, just with less running.

A luxury player if ever I saw one, there is a reason he is going to villa and not one of the top clubs.

Good signing for Villa and apparently pretty close with Stevie. Looking forward to seeing if he can get his form back.

Interesting nugget of info here from the John Percy article on the Coutinho transfer:

So if he’s a success we can nip in and snare him. He’s Barcelona’s highest earning player though.

If true this would be an absolutely stunning move on our part. Let him prove he still has it for someone else, on their dime, then scoop him up if he does.

I just have a hard time believing this because that is absolutely bonkers if true. But man what a smart move if it is. If he lights it up 40 mil for him wouldn't be too much, the problem is, if he truly does that well with villa, why would he want another change of scenery?

No the difference with Coutinho is he isnt shit just has been on bad form, unlike a lot of our players who are actually shit, if Conte wanted him I'm sure as hell he'd be great.

Coutinho ‘was’ a fantastic player and still has a lot to offer but he’s both not had regular football recently and has picked up a fair few injuries. It’s one thing signing an experienced player and another signing one who’s got a questionable fitness record. Given the financial constraints and our other pressing needs I can see why we passed on Coutinho.

Not based on the fact it’s a loan and low risk other than wages for 6 months.

we are crying out for some creativity and goals so should of took the pop unless we have other deals lined up which I doubt.

His record at Barca is still good tbh as was his loan at Bayern.

Barca are strange with players as they ditch many even with good records, and feel recently and particularly with Coutinho is the wages, as they chucked huge money at him, (as they have many players) and now are suffering financially so need to offload, and despite a good record Coutinho was disposable when compared to Messi, Pique, Busquets etc. who also all took pay cuts (not sure if Coutinho did?)
