Has Bilic been drinking?
He's always been like that, I think he's a lot more intelligent than people give him credit for. He just needs to shave that head!!

West Ham have Song to come back in as well. They're a powerful looking side now, and that little bit of class with Payet as well.
They're going to finish pretty high I reckon. Between 7th - 10th IMO.

Bilic is a thinking man's croatian Redknapp. He's a talker, but most of it's blarney. He buys well, and everyone knows what I have thought about Payet for a long time, there won't be better value for money paid last summer, and Bilic deserves credit for that business, but that bit of transfer business has probably accounted for about 7 of their 9 points so far, not Bilic's tactical or coaching genius.
Counter attacking football can be a wonderful tactical thing, but there is nothing particularly clever about it when it's only used in the deep defensive shell from virtually the first minute, especially when it's not even deliberate, and I have a real problem believing that that degree of tactical cowardice was what Bilic planned against Newcastle at home, and a Newcastle team without a win. If Allardyce had done that he'd have been mullered by the West Ham fuckwits.
I think with the players that West Ham have managed to bring in, they will dig Bilic out results, but watching his West Ham will be just like watching Redknapp's Portsmouth. Goals on the break have a habit of creating the impression of rapier and scintillating flowing power. When often they are really just cowboys riding a horse called desperado.

he's only there now because West Ham offered him a huge contract that Marseille couldn't match. He was about to sign a new deal with them. He's 28, he was excellent last season apparently (I don't watch Ligue 1), but you'd think this move is either his last big move or the chance to get one for next season. If Payet has a good season he won't be at West Ham next.
You can't compare this West Ham squad with the one they had last season. This one is far stronger. They added Payet, who is one of the best attacking players in the entire league. They added Moses and Lanzini, who give them good options on the wing, who work hard, and have on the ball skills. They added Ogbonna, who is one of the most underrated defensive buys for value in all of the Prem. They added another quality defensive central midfielder in Obiang. Kouyate and Sakho have massively improved since they arrived at the club. They still have Valencia and Song, their two best players from last season, to come back into the squad, too. They've got players like Carroll and Jelavic to give them a bit of variety off the bench. With no Europa League, they'll absolutely finish in the top 10 and probably will be in the mix for a top 6 spot until the end unless they have injuries.
They've gone for it and used the television money to build a strong squad and they will reap the benefits. They will spend again next summer and the summer after that, so they'll be a clear threat to us in the coming years if we insist of austerity for the rest of the decade.
Their best player last season was Downing, Song was terrible in the last few months, thats because he is a crock and is finished as a consistent force. Payet has got off to a flyer ( see my prediction of this in the transfer thread ), many do, infact he has almost been as good as Mahrez. My predicition also included that come May nobody will be talking about wanting him ( or Mahrez ). Think back to Martin Petrov at City ( along with numerous other examples over the years )
Ogbonna is an absolute donkey. Obiang I know little about so can't comment. Moses? This forum was in meltdown when we were linked with him! Suddenly we should be fearful?
They had just as good a start last season, they were top 4 in December, and were playing some nice stuff too. They lost confidence and reverted to type over the second half of the season and fell away big time.
So far they have had the freak win at Arsenal, two terrible home defeats and a great win at a stuttering Liverpool. Oh and also managed to beat a diabolical Newcastle team at home. This morning you would think they have cracked it and will be walking off with the title! I said last season back when they were going superbly that we would finish way in front of them. I'm saying it now too. They might, just might manage top 10, but they won't be anywhere near top 6 ( in terms of points )
I do agree though that if they keep spending money they have yet to receive and we continue to keep plodding along hoping the kids will improve that they could well start catching us up in the short term. That goes for plenty of clubs behind us though such as Stoke, Swansea, Southampton etc. They all fall into that group of clubs below us but looking up.
Our biggest threat to top 6 looks like it could well be Everton who will benefit of not having European football ( West Ham cannot actually benefit as they never have it to bog them down so no change there )
While I agree with a lot of that, he has managed to get the team playing decent football in a very short time. He has done well so far, if we had of beaten Arsenal and Liverpool away this season without conceeding we would be creaming ourselves right now and rightly so. His home results have been dissapointing but they are scoring goals. I think he will improve as the eason goes on. There is a lot to be said for teams having a footballing ideal but when it comes down to it results are what gets points.
That's just it, I don't think he has got them playing decent football (certainly yet anyway). They've got their three results by being hemmed in by better teams and scoring on the break. He'll claim tactical pragmatism for the first two, and away at Arsenal and Liverpool you could accept there probably was some tactical pragmatism and it was carried out well, but don't tell me that was the plan home to Newcastle ?
I'm still pissed they got Payet. He's worth at least 10 points a season even if your managers a complete fuckwit.
Time will tell the season is young, I don't mind managers like Bilic, I like a bit of personality... I wouldn't want him at our helm all the same. I seen a bit of Payet in France, just highlights mainly but wasn't he known for being a very good player with a lot of end product half the time an then going off the boil the rest? Still he was a good price and if he can consistently perform he will certainly be on other teams radars next summer if not January.
