The fact that, a month after selling Kane and buying nobody, our window is seemingly reliance on getting Brennan Johnson, who wasn't even in the top 10 winger targets most of us would have wanted.

Even if we get him and some shit back-up CB, we'll still be significantly weaker now than we were a month ago. That's a fact, and it's a disgrace. That £100m, as we all predicted, has gone absolutely nowhere.

As much as there might be more to it than this base level analysis, the above is indeed the optics, and it's easy to understand why so many fans are (rightly) a bit cheesed off.

What the hell happened to all of the plans the club had for when Kane left? We were told they'd been preparing for that to happen for the last couple of years.

The Richarlison x Maddison axis NOT ENOUGH FOR YOU?

Who just whispered that Maddison is actually Eriksen's replacement from 2020, Kane was Eriksen's replacement.

I don't even know where to start with this... the stadium was always there to increase the value of Tottenham and spark further revenue streams for the ENIC kitty. The Kane deal was 75% upfront.. it is already confirmed we can spend over £400 million and still keep within FFP. I don't know how people still don't get it.
Saying this again, but:

Ńo it wasn't. 400m available without breaking FFP was based on financial accounts from 2020 when it included 3 years when we had records of profit and money spent on stadium were exempt from FFP. That doesn't count anymore and since that we had 3 years of losses

Even if we CAN spend £400m and still be within FFP, the doesn't actually mean we have the money to do it. the FFP bit is just a ratio calculation.

I really think this is the final signing opportunity. It's Johnson or nobody for deadline day. The lack of any serious links to a CB is a major concern. We have to hope VdV and Romero stay fit.

Yep, I’d have rather kept the 100 million and had another season of Kane as you knew we weren’t gonna use it effectively.

And Johnson really doesn’t excite me, not even sure where we’d deploy him unless he actually prefers playing on right as getting kinda of sick of us buying / being linked to left-sided attackers, being over stacked one side and completely neglecting the other.

Scarlett going on loan to Ipswich combined with Forest signing a couple of players seems to indicate there is expectation for a deal to be done here
Agree, applying a bit of common sense to these things is usually reasonably accurate !

If Levy thinks Forrest have overextended themselves in the market this will go on until tomorrow evening. Who does like a good bit of transfer window chicken.
Unless of course Brentford slap down a decent and agreeable amount of cash on the table.

I think Forrest are quite firm on their £50 mil valuation. If Brentford only went to £43 mil including add ons that’s a big jump for a club like them. Imagine Brentford signing a player for £50 mil. Just a crazy thought really. Shows you how much the market has changed if it happens. Even so I’m not entirely convinced he’s a £50 mil player tho even if he’s a young HG attacker.

He's not but you can blame Chelsea for distorting the market when they pay 45m for Cole palmer who has played about 500 mins of premier league football and got 1 assist

It was said at the start of the week that it would go to the wire. Nothing seems to have changed on that front. Doesnt mean it will or wont happen at this stage I suspect.

Another Levy masterstroke of brinkmanship and negotiation by holding the gun to his own head and threatening to pull the trigger unless the other side does exactly what he wants incoming.
