He's only going to learn how to play in the PL by playing in the PL, If he does go on loan elsewhere it should be his last otherwise he'll probably never get a chance to show what he can do in the PL. Of course if a PL team were to loan him it would kill two birds with one stone. He gets to learn more about this league and we get to see what he can do without taking a risk ourselves.

There was a lot of talk about Modric being too lightweight for PL as I recall. He turned out ok.
Justified as well - he was just pushed off the ball played as an AM. Then they broke his leg.
It wasn't until he was played as a deeper play maker that he became one of the best players in the world.

I think the 5 subs is a bit of a game changer where fringe players are concerned.
As you say, we currently only have two attacking subs, so there is plenty of potential for Gil to get minutes.
It will be interesting to see how Conte uses the 5 subs tactics, its going to be a new world for the prem

If the club is serious about developing Gil he must go on loan to a Prem club, bournemouth would be ideal he could then really establish his identity in the EPL

Yet he can’t shoot
Are you basing this off the first training session of pre-season, instead of his performances in Spain and the Spanish u21's?
I'm pretty sure he's got an eye for goal and the ability to find it, as well as provide assists.

It's not like he's Sissoko! ?

I think Gil could be the surprise player for this season.
To me he's a hybrid of Moura and Kulu, has that Lucas dash of magic but combined with a brain.

I can see why they thought he wasn't ready for the Prem last season but I think a couple of months under Conte might prepare him for it this one.
He has the right attributes but I think he'll need another loan. He's similar age to Kulusevski but looks a good bit further behind. If we sign another attacking midfielder I think he'll go on loan and we'll keep Moura.

I’m basing it off his stats and goal scoring isn’t his fortay

Not kept up with everything recently but judging by the comments made by Conte about getting the business done before the tour I’m guessing our transfer in business is done?

Yeah, maybe it's not his forte yet but he's young and has played mainly out wide.
But yet he's still managed to score and assist a fair few, along with a few MotM performances.
I certainly wouldn't say that he's terrible at finishing just yet but that's not to say its an area that he can't/won't improve.

You fell foul of 'sweeping statement syndrome' as in "he can't score goals".
That's the only reason your post stood out to me.

I personally thought he looked pretty good.
Same, I really believe there is a quality player in there and I hope we don't sell him. I do wonder if a lone to an attacking PL team like Brighton might be the ideal for the upcoming season tho. He def needs as much game time as he can get atm.

Very good and intelligent passes at times. Hope he stays and does well even though he probably won’t get too much game time initially. It’ll be hard to get into that front 3 and the midfield 2 will be impossible. But even as a sub he could be just what we need.

I really think he just needs some assists and goals to ignite his abilities. Once his confidence is flowing in his veins he will be so good, especially when his fitness levels are superb.

For a preseason game, he looked good. Only saw the first half where he had some obvious mistakes but also showed some creative flair and played attacking football. It is harder to judge younger players because you don't know when they'll peak. But Gil certainly has quite a bit of upside. Would like to see him at the club for the first half of the season for tactical and physical reasons and then loan out in january if he doesn't earn playing time by then.
