Yep. Don't know what's normally the case, but I'm pretty sure they've been sending them home as soon as they finish their events this year due to Covid. As in "you have 24 hours to leave the country" sending them home!
Normally the athletes can stay and party in the athletes village, but our NZ athletes have been told they have to vacate the village within 48 hours of their last event.

You will love watching this guy go forward and terrify defences. If we can combine that with a deadly free kick taker who will be able to take advantage of the inevitable fouls he will draw then it will be a massive advantage.
I can't wait to watch him go to work in a Spurs shirt.

I've only seen bits of highlights so far, but from what I've seen he doesn't seem to have weaknesses apart from perhaps strength which is kind of a given with his age and stature.

He doesn't just beat a man and cross, he picks a pass, he gets his head up and uses it wisely, this is very rare in a winger, especially one so young.

His touch and passing is first class, as you would expect from a Spanish player.

He gets up and goes again, hard tackles don't seem to phase him, if anything he seems to love the challenge. Watching him go up against Alves, who is/was world class, probably the best in his position at one time was fascinating.

He presses and tracks back, again very rare in a skilful winger and to top it off he has a shot on him. But for me it his confidence that does it, just no fear. You can tell already with him it doesn't matter who he's up against it won't phase him.

Potential wise he is ridiculous. As for comparisons I've heard Reyes, which is probably the closest in style but Reyes always struggled with the physicality. For me he's what we hoped Marcus Edwards would be.

So, I agree. Watched him in a few of these Olympic matches as well. He looks the real deal. I’d add that I’ve noticed many on here who don’t think he’ll get much time this year and will only be an impact sub at best early on. I’m not sure I agree.
The reason young players are often brought in slowly is because either the manager cant trust the player on defense or the manager doesn’t want to throw him in the deep end and kill his confidence. I don’t think either is a problem with this lad. He’s got confidence and daring to spare and he seems very devoted to his defensive responsibilities. He seems to have a very high football IQ. He’s not your typical youngster. And, everyone is just now learning a new system….he’s not going to be too far behind them. What I have noticed is he’s always looking for the ball….he finds pockets of space and offers an option to pass to. He’s constantly in motion shifting to an open space.
We may need Romero most of all but Gil is the addition I’m most excited about.

Do the NZ athletes have to do MIQ on their return?

Really hope that we can properly facilitate this guy to do his thing. Never seen him live outside of the final yesterday, but watching that and a bunch of clips, he really relies on committing a defender by taking them on to progress the ball, and having mobile teammates that are pulling off of their own men to give him a couple of passing options. I've never seen us as static and lazy as last season, with nobody making any effort to get free to receive the pass. We need to be a lot better this season in that regard, so hopefully Nuno has put a rocket up their arses or Bryan Gil is going to end up down a lot of blind alleys through no fault of his own.

I just worry about this guy looks magic but he'll get Snapped in the PL hopefully he handles it like Modric did and not like Gio Dos Santos

Bryan Gil, Gil, Gil
He’s the boy with all the skill
Bryan Gil,Gil,Gil
Came to Tottenham from Seville
To the left, to the right, he’s only 5ft9 in height
Bryan Gil, Gil, Gil
He’s F***ing dynamite!

Top tune. The fatal flaw in this is no one will be able to pronounce his name right. Can you imagine the spit flying through the stands as they wrap their touches around “Hhhjjiy”

The PL with Var and the influx of massively technical players nothing like even 10 years ago

It’s physical but more the sheer intensity and stamina needed and the high pressing

the days of crunching tackles and big hard men lumps clattering into you after 30 seconds to leave a warning are over
