I’m sorry but he’s nothing like David Silva. He just simply doesn’t have the technical ability.

He has shown no signs of being able to dictate the tempo of a game, even in Spain.

To his credit, he always gives 100%. But he will never come close to being that type of player IMO.

I think his technical ability is there but he needs to be on the pitch for more than 200 minutes a season. Silva was originally a goalkeeper at youth level then a winger at Valencia before moving more central around the age of 25. I’m not saying Gil will be as good, Silva is a great of the modern prem, but I do see a similarity in them as players and the same transition could be possible for Gil. To what level is the question, hence my point around where this is realised, spurs or Brentford or roma etc

For me he needs to bulk up a bit. Both Silvas albeit small in stature have strength on the ball and the ability to manoeuvre the opposition player with their low centre of gravity. Gil doesn’t seem to have that ability, yet. Just not sure I see him becoming the player a lot thought he could become unfortunately.

He is still only 22. I am not sure if he will make it but i think he has the ability and it may be that when hes 24/25 he is able to set the tempo of a game from a number 10 position similar to David Silva (who was even smaller). Will that be at Spurs? I dont know but i wouldnt mind him having a real go at trying to convert to that position and be the backup to Maddison. He has the technical ability to pull it off. We really need to be patient with some of our youngsters.

He'll be 23 in less than a month, and whilst that isn't old, your comparison to Silva is a stretch too far. Silva was arguably the first on the team sheet from age 20 for Valencia and was dictating play, chipping in regular goals and assists and driving Valencia to Champions League qualification. At 24 and barely a year older than Gil now, he earned his transfer to Man City.

I like Gil but I always worried about whether he'd be able to adapt to a new position or play style as he's very naturally and old school left winger.

If you watch he's best moments on YouTube most of his assists are from crosses from the left, he's got a lovely cross in him but it's a style not many teams use today.

I hoped he'd either get better on the right as an inverted forward or learn to play as a 10 as he has some creative attributes and with his agility could be a good position for him. Not sure it's going to work out now unfortunately.

I do like him though. Always gives his all and is a tenacious little git with excellent work rate.

I like him but If we've got our eye on any players in Spain/Portugal/Holland then maybe there is a deal to be had as a makeweight in the summer, if he wants a permanent move of course, and with teams struggling financially it could work for all parties and I think he'd do well in a weaker league, I'm not sure he'll ever have the output to take the squad forward, it's a shame as he's clearly quite technical and works hard off the ball but I want us to build the best squad we've had in the PL era.

Confident we can get a fee for Bryan towards the end of the window interested parties fee won’t be as high as paid for but above 10mill. It will have major clauses if he succeeds or gets sold . Player needs to be convinced as he feels like he’s finally settled .

Guess it will be down to Ange/the club to advise him moving is in his best interests. If he does go I will be following him as much as I can as I’m very curious to see how he develops.

I like Gil. I personally just see 'something' with him. I think he has far more technical ability than Brennan Johnson for example but that's just my onions.

I think he'll go on to have a decent career.

Gil is a conundrum for me.
Has a lot of technical ability, works hard, and has some great attributes, but I feel like he struggles to make the best of said attributes and he's so unpredictable even his teammates don't know what he's going to do - and not in a good way. I've lost track of the number of times a teammate has been stumped so much by a layoff or pass that it's led to a turnover. Also, it's like he never has enough time on the ball. He's constantly almost trying too hard and lacks composure in general.

I can see the potential, but at the same time, I don't see when or how he's going to realize that potential.

I think you’re being a bit dramatic. It seems unlikely he’ll ever properly establish himself here, but I think he’ll attract interest from some of the big clubs in Spain.

I don’t see his career being a mess just because he can’t get into our team. It’s not a Dele or Ndombele situation or even a Tanganga situation.
