Media suggesting an Eriksen / Bale switch, can't see it myself, because like others I don't think he's playing well enough to be considered by RM.

I’m sure RM have done their homework and watched him through the last few seasons and know that he can play a lot better than what we’ve seen this season.

Dembele doesn’t play for Denmark though where he does perform.

I don’t think his head is here anymore. Comes up with odd flashes of class but in recent months he’s not performed at all.
I am not that familiar with the Denmark team to know if they have someone who performs that role for them. Nevertheless, Denmark are not generally playing at the same level of competition that we are currently at.

Be interesting to see how he performs for Denmark they have a couple of big games. If it’s the same then maybe he’s just burnt out or it’s the injury that was mentioned hampering him. Likely he’ll bang a few worldies.

Poor Christian Eriksen. A brilliant attacking player, but one who increasingly looks knackered and yet receives more and more criticism for his inability to drag his team on. There are benefits to not making a series of summer signings, but there is also a middle ground. Tottenham have one fit creative attacking midfielder, and they’re running him into the ground. The flak Eriksen is now getting from his own supporters must make him feel bilious.

I'd hardly say we're running him into the ground - these footballers are paid a lot of money to play at most two games per week (aside from Christmas period) and it's only since we've been in noughties we've had this obsession with players needing to be rested.

Aside from match days he goes into a luxury training facility then gets rest of day off to do what he wants.

It used to be your strongest team always played...

He's a very good player but I would say he has a bit of a weak mentality - in his first couple of seasons he was very hot and cold and then last season and a half has been pretty consistently good but has now dropped standards again. He needs to take responsibility and stop shirking - like he had been doing.

Unless he's carrying an injury he needs to buck up - it's not even like he's expected to be charging around like a nutter winning midfield battles, he gets to do the prettier creative stuff.

I'm having to blow by blow this, as each paragraph seems to have its own unique misconception of modern football:
I'd hardly say we're running him into the ground - these footballers are paid a lot of money to play at most two games per week (aside from Christmas period)
This on its own is a very tired argument, like money is a direct correlation to superhuman stamina and recovery.

and it's only since we've been in noughties we've had this obsession with players needing to be rested.
Arsene Wenger and Alex Ferguson were already indulging in squad rotation in the late 90's.

Aside from match days he goes into a luxury training facility then gets rest of day off to do what he wants.
Pochettino is famous for double training sessions. Are we conveniently forgetting this for a lazy swipe at an out-dated generalisation?

It used to be your strongest team always played...
To mis-quote Bart Simpson, welcome to the 21st century man.

He's a very good player but I would say he has a bit of a weak mentality - in his first couple of seasons he was very hot and cold and then last season and a half has been pretty consistently good but has now dropped standards again. He needs to take responsibility and stop shirking - like he had been doing.
Weak mentality? Shirking? Despite him running further than the rest of the team, despite pressing more than any of the team, despite covering a vast amount of the pitch, despite being our creative player for years now? Right. Are you actually watching how we play the game, or is this another drop into another lazy narrative?

Unless he's carrying an injury he needs to buck up - it's not even like he's expected to be charging around like a nutter winning midfield battles, he gets to do the prettier creative stuff.
And yet he actually is expected to charge around the midfield, closing down space and possession, pushing the play back and to the side, as well as almost all the creative stuff.

If a player like Eriksen ever knew about half of the bollocks said about him by his own team's supporters, I wouldn't fucking blame him for saying "balls to this, where's my Spanish phrasebook"

Just had a pretty chilling thought this morning. Look how bad we fucked up the Walker departure. Scary to think what could happen post Toby & Eriksen.

by the time Eriksen gets the ball these days the opposition has 8 or 9 men back and the've had time to have a cup of tea.
I am amazed by the number of people who don't have this sort of grasp on football. Like when they watch their team, they seem to be outraged that the other set of players aren't just letting them win.

I don't know why people find it so hard to understand that even the slightest drop in physical condition, ie not quite feeling sharp due to accumulated fatigue, can substantially knock performance levels. A 5% drop in level is all it takes to go from very good to ineffective.

Against Dortmund, Eriksen was sensational however he has been poor over the past few games. Sadly, this dip in form that has been grossly exacerbated by the general abject nature of performances all over the pitch. Son, for example, has been very ineffective since that CL tie and we've been left chasing games after a couple of defensive errors that have changed the dynamic of matches.

Although he could have provided more quality on the ball, we have to be careful not to diminish his effort - Eriksen still appears to be putting in a bigger shift and covering more distance than most of his teammates.

Notwithstanding that he has to improve, it is clear that our general play has become predictable and labored making it easy for the opposition to nullify. I expect that the return of Dele will be a huge relief to Eriksen and Spurs in general - with more guile, intelligence and goal threat.

Jesus Christ these last few pages have hurt my eyes.

Winnered. Embarrassing really.

Just because he havn't signed a contract yet, people go absolutely crazy with the criticism. It was the same with Modric and Walker.

And these people actually want him dropped. They clearly don't remember when for once he was injured, and we played like fucking trash, not even showing we were a top10 side in the PL.

Actually I would like him to be dropped, just to see the faces on these guys when we play. Who to blame now? Probably go back to Trippier or give Kane a run for not creating enough.

He is the ONLY one with Kane & Alli who can pick out a pass. Sissoko, Winks, Lamela, Lucas, our two FB, hell even Son can't do that. And are they getting anything? Nah they make fucking Sissoko and Winks MOTM in every match thread. They offer nothing going forwards.

Against Arsenal we had Eriksen and an injured Kane to do all the creative work. Is that really enough for a top4 side in the PL? Do you think he magically can do it all himself?

NOBODY is making any runs. Rose didn't take on fucking Mustafi(!) a SINGLE time. Whole Wembley laughed when Trippier tried to.

What I'm saying is, we need better players around Eriksen Alli Kane in the midfield and at our FBs. Then he will perform. If he went to Barcelona he would destroy the league because he's playing with 10 times the players we have a this club atm.

In Denmark he's really not getting that much criticism, but he's not getting praised for obvious reasons.

These people in the last few month in this thread and in the match thread are gonna be sooo mad when he leaves and they realises we just lost our most important player and won't get top4 anymore, because we won't sign a star player for him because of the little bald headed dwarf.

Sorry but i'm loosing my shite to this forum sometimes.

Stop bashing this guy, he has done plenty to prove you wrong in the last couple seasons. Go back to the Trippier Rose Davies or Sanchez thread really.
