I think you are both right. Spurs should be a bit more open, especially around the international break when the national coaches feel compelled to update their own fans. That said, the protocol should be the club do the update.Why not ? Why can’t we be told the truth ? Why do we have these silly secrets and fail to keep the fans up to date with injuries ? Spurs are in an entertainment industry and fans should be told these things.
Collectively they should all agree to have an agreed stance on player injury updates and that the clubs have an opportunity to update before the national team press briefings. That way fans find out and the clubs (as the paying employers) control the news flow.
I get that, at a point in time, the situation is often ‘we don’t know until further tests are done’ but at least that’s a consistent line to share as a holding position for all parties.
