Well said. Think how much more relaxed we’d be about this is we had Grealish on the team now after a year bedding in. But alas, we thought we could hold Villa over a barrel rather than just paying them a reasonable 20-25M and then lost the chance when they got new owners.

With Eriksen, I really hope some of this United talk is meant to nudge RM on and let them know they can’t wait until after EPL window closes. Still hard for me to believe they want to pay 60-70 for VdB and not Eriksen.

I genuinely think Zidane doesnt believe Eriksen is good enough for Real. I cannot see him in RM shirt this season.

Pogba scored and helped his country win the WC.
Eriksen did nothing of note and looked lost in the CL final.

I think Zidane, being a highly decisive player himself, will be looking at it through this spectrum. Even if we think Eriksen would do well there.

Secondly, Pogba is more of a successor to Modric and Kroos. Eriksen plays further forward - think that plays a part too

That’s a fair enough assessment of the situation.

Looks like we have to replace him either now or this time next year. We really ought to be trying to sign BF whether Eriksen leaves or not.
Agreed on trying to sign both Fernandes and Lo Celso, we should be looking to get them both done this summer. And really, we should have been addressing the Eriksen situation last summer rather than this one.

Last summer I remember being terrified about the prospects of Eriksen and Alli both not signing a new deal and then getting to this stage in 2019 where they could both have entered the final year of their contracts, and it was a massive relief when Dele signed a new contract and at least put that half of the nightmare scenario to bed. But in the disaster zone that was the summer 2018 transfer window, there was no proactive management of the Eriksen contract situation (or at least, none that actually resulted in anything tangible) and so here we find ourselves today.

Let's try to analyse this.

1. Eriksen wants Madrid --> he will stay at Spurs.

2. Quiet on Lo Celso --> he will stay at Betis

3. Eriksen stays at Spurs --> we give up on Lo Celso

4. Noise on Bruno Fernandes --> we try with United rivaling our bid. As Eriksen stays, we cannot get United off our backs, Fernandes sees there is no guarantee of a mid field place, he goes United.

5. We get Ryan Segesson.

6. Only 4 days...what do you expect??

Yep this is pretty much how I think it will pan out.

We struggle to get big deals done and people think that we are gonna get 3-4 done in four days... can’t see it myself

Getting Ndombele and changing our style to a more forward leaning game has been the big thing. With that happening Eriksen is less of a factor than he was as we will open up the field earlier and quicker. Lamela who looks much fitter and ready and Dele with his comments and quality are ready to get on the end of some NDombele passing (I think Skipp will play a factor at CM too). Add all that to possible incomings Fernandes (and if we get money for Eriksen maybe Lo Celso) .....with Kane,Moura and Son ahead I think we have something great with or without Eriksen.

He goes to Utd I erase all what he's achieved with us from my memory.

No reason to leave us for them.

Not one. Bar money of course.

As I said there’s been no talk from Madrid about Eriksen in the media and it isn’t because they have some new found respect for us. You have to assume they just aren’t keen.

Eriksen to United is such a weird move. They are a few losses away from OGS being sacked and the fans up there revolting at the board. It’s on a knife edge. They’ve got loads of overpaid underperforming players and their best player wants out. They have an inexperienced coach with no charisma and they finished the season poorly once the new manager bounce had worn off. wtf would he swap out the Spurs project for that? Playing in the europa league too. Deary me.

Would be truly bizarre.

To be honest I don’t really care about selling him to a rival now IF we can get Lo Celso and Fernandes as seems Eriksen is pissing us around and he is not fully committed on the pitch.

He's in the squad to play today btw, not that it probably will make much of a difference.

I reckon he'll stay along with rose. Too late in the window for a big move to United.

As was said be interesting to see if he plays later!

Would you rather keep Eriksen for the year without him signing and having a toxic situation around the club or relying on him during games in this situation or getting rid of him for money that we can reinvest in another player even if its United? I also don't see him going to them but its a way out of the situation to move on and for him,he can continue to play, make a name for himself and maybe go to Madrid later

It sounds good in theory to sell and replace Eriksen with 2 players but absolutely no guarantees any desired incomings would play out in practice. There's 4 days to go and no margin for error.

Yes he really looked uncommitted when he scored that goal in our last game....

That all depends if we have to sell Eriksen to sign someone else.

If ( and it’s a big if) we can sign either GLC or Fernandes, then imo I don’t think Eriksen’s potential attitude will impact us as much. If he sulks then he’ll see his place in the team in jeopardy, which I’m sure he will not want.

Why would it be a toxic situation?

I may be made to lap up some humble pie but I can't see the situation being toxic, Eriksen just doesn't strike me as the type of guy to create issues or unrest. We would all prefer him to leave for some money than to lose him on a free but unfortunately if he's not willing to sign a new deal and nobody is fussed about signing him this summer our hands are tied.

Eriksen staying and running his contract down thus meaning we can only sign one of our targets instead of both would be a disaster.

I hope he does the right thing and leaves rather than screwing us over.
