Just to play devils advocate it might not be his decision, he might want to stay and wait to leave on a free but we're forcing the issue. So I wouldn't completely despise him just yet.

I am thinking this too. We are trying to push him there to either get some money back on him or maybe even try and convince him to sign the new deal.

If he's got anything about him I think he'll sit tight or sign the new deal. Probably the former, which is bad news for us too!

Why would it be a toxic situation?

Right now its not toxic because there is still a chance he may sign but if he decides to wait I think it will get somewhat toxic.
He isn't doing us any favors so I think the caring margin will go to nothing on both sides.

I think people are minimizing the impact if sold to United. They immediately become a better squad than our lot if they landed CE. He is one of the top proven players in the league and we would be replacing with unproven players from weaker leagues. It also just reinforces the idea that we are a feeder club.

I have a hard time believing there are no foreign suitors who wouldn’t snap our hands off at 40 mil. Please, please, please don’t sell to United.

Why would we sell to United if there were suitors from Europe???
The question is would you take Fernandes,Lo Celso and Sessegnon and let Eriksen go to United?

If you cut up the video just to the bit where CE is walking in by himself you would think he is some marginalised figure on the way out. But literally half the team walks in by themselves.

The ones coming in together came in the same car. Hugo got a lift from Lamela, etc. Eriksen arrived in his Porsche and seemed happy enough to sign autographs, etc.

It looks like Real Madrid need some defensive midfielders to me so can’t see them going for him. Man U, can’t see it myself. They wouldn’t of given Mata a new contract for example.

Running down his contract will be what happens now I suspect. Annoying.

The ideal solution would be to sign both bf and glc whilst pulling the plug on united. We would be fairly bloated in that area of the pitch but id sit eriksen on the periphery and on the bench mostly and use the players that are fully committed to the team. Sit him in the bench then let him go on a free.He will get his wish that way but at the expense of playing week in week out for a club that actually wanted him

I'll wait and see on this. We all thought Toby was off to United last summer and that never came to fruition.

Not one bit shocked that we're saying this is "holding up other deals" though. Classic Spurs.

Ben Pearce on Twitter is saying Eriksen and Alderweireld are subs today. So not entirely out of the squad, but this lineup might be a minor preview of things to come if they both move this week.

Dele's not a sub today though, not sure why.

If I was earning that sort of money I would never drive myself anywhere

He is in the team, just not starting. Along with Son & Toby. Dele, Foyth, Aurier and Dier aren't in the team.
If he a leaves on a free next year we have to be even more aggressive this summer and how we spend our money, we're not big enough to take a hit on not getting 50-60M for him. It's more than one tenth of our turnover the Eriksen fee.

Why this year? We'd be perfectly fine with one of Fernandes/GLC and Eriksen for a season, let one of those guys get bedded in and acclimated to the team then buy another #10 next year. Next year will finally be the year of Grealish, can't you feel it?!

Because when your spending money you have to be thinking ahead as to what money you will be getting or not getting in.

We have to get rid now. Nobody wanted this by Levy will have no choice. He was a legend but if this has been Eriksen’s stance he has let us all down including himself and he will be dead to us.?

In the team refers to first 11, he is in the squad. Looks like the team that could play against villa next week, of the three not starting, Son is suspended for next week. Does look suspicious that Toby and Eriksen have been linked away and are not starting.

Maybe CE is not happy with the transfer window. Waiting to see if we get great players in or not. And as for now, not much has happened. Maybe he us fed up.
