I think its worth having a look at Davies career with us. In 2016/17 when we finished second he played more often than Rose, and he contributed 1 goal and 3 assists, Danny made 2 and 2. However, an overall analysis of the pairs performances which appeared not so long ago revealed that Davies made fewer errors which led to goals, he also had better stats in several other areas. Clearly his best position is at CB. If you look at our last 9/10 games he was as good or better than Dier or Romero (who missed the last 3). Rather than it being 'clear that Conte does not see Davies as being at a good enough level to be a starting LCB in his system', the probable addition of Lenglet as competition for Davies may indicate precisely the opposite. If we also sign Bremer he might play instead of Dier, who occasionally gave the ball away in dangerous areas, even against Norwich.

Davies has made a high number of appearances for us, including 19 in the CL, and he has captained the side on a number of occasions. He played pretty regularly in most of the seasons we made top 4. We all want to win the title, but we need to be realistic.
Spot on. Tbh I almost see Davies as our left sided Azpilcueta. Not flashy, but solid and can play full back or wide CB in a back 3

During the Bartomeu years they have paid a lot of players an extortionate amount of money. This is why they’re having such a job trying to offload the deadwood in their squad.

Frenkie De Jong is a wonderfully talented player but is no way a €350,000 a week player!
They’ve been shocking with the wages paid (see Coutinho before he moved to Villa), but I just can’t find anywhere that says Lenglet is on €230K PW, they all seem to show at €70K PW which seems more legitimate.

Probably a case of merging the loan fee with wages and some journos are just getting creative. No way he could be on those sort of numbers

I think one of the biggest problems we had last season was when Dier was out. I suspect Lenglet will be Dier's competition whilst also able to play as LCB if needed.

Think we're going to waz a big load over a CCB (i.e. Bremer), with Lengers as compo for Davies.

Media team seems active today so wouldn't be surprised if this is announced today

Not so sure. lenglet seems more like the profile of the LCBs we've been looking at while we are also trying for Bremer who I would think will compete with Dier.

Does anyone know if we have an option to purchase included in this loan deal?

Fair take on Davies. My point was that Conte wants more from that position though. Bringing in Lenglet, targetting Bastoni, it's clear he wants a ball playing defender in there. Davies isn't a ball playing CB. His ability on the ball is not one of his strengths. He's just a solid all arounder.

That seems the consensus but won’t fully know until it’s officially confirmed

Not sure, but it would be very un-Levy like not to future proof any deal, let alone a long term loan from Barca.
100%

Didn't think that we would be potentially developing / reigniting a player for Barcelona. Hopefully find out soon enough ?

Is Lenglet still in the France set up or has he been dropped from the national squad?

Dropped, but he was a regular a couple of seasons back and a part of the Euro's squad. I mean, France have so many top CBs, you aren't going to get called up let alone play unless you are playing really well for your club.

Sort of, wasn't in the nations league but on the bench for a number of games last year. He's hardly started for Barca though so not surprised he hasn't had many starts for France either.
