Really interested to see how he turns out. This is a proper money ball signing and I love that. He’s got all the skills we want for that position, but for whatever reason it’s just not worked at Barca for him.

Not too fussed about the lack of option. If he does well then we benefit this season either way and we'll no doubt look to sign him next year, we'll have the leverage over Barca
Just hope we don’t get Alderweirelded if we want to sign him permanently

No idea what's the fuss about not having an option after this loan. We can negotiate again. So what if the asking price may be higher - we are already getting a great deal by not paying his wages in full for this loan already. Feel really sad for those who are so let down by this signing just because we don't have the option included. I for one couldn't wait to see him pinging the balls up to our RWB or Kulu from deep! Let's just enjoy the ride for this season and who knows what might happen if we do win some silverware...

Another great job from Paratici ???

Still can’t get my head round why there’s no option
My guess is that Conte was impressed with Davies last season but views Bastoni or Gvardiol as two of few genuine improvements on him. We pushed hard for both but both weren’t available this summer so Lenglet has been brought in as Plan B.

Conte wants to challenge this season and to do that having just one pure LCB is risky. Adding Lenglet give us strength in depth with potential to improve the first XI.

Financially, a dry loan is unorthodox structure for us as it gives Barcelona significant upside if he impresses. For that reason, I think we may have an undisclosed benefit from this structuring — whether it be reduced wages, first refusal on future acquisition, or even a haircut on the fee (total outlay and/or sell-on) for Emerson

Watch the video again and you’ll see he actually fucked it up. Starts with his thumb, ends with his thumb. He only had one thing to do …

Tottenham have signed France centre-back Clement Lenglet from Barcelona on a season-long loan.

The deal is reported to have an option-to-buy clause included.
Lenglet, 27, struggled to cement his place in Barcelona's first XI last season, starting just seven La Liga matches.

The Catalan club signed Lenglet from Sevilla for 35.9m euros (£32m) in 2018 and added a 300 million euro (£265m) release clause to his contract.

He becomes Antonio Conte's fifth summer signing following the arrivals of Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison.

Lenglet has won 15 caps for France since making his debut in 2019 and has made a total of 160 appearances for Barcelona, helping them win the 2018-19 La Liga title and the Copa de Rely in 2021.

Don’t think anyone feels let down because of that, it’s just odd because most of our recent loans have had options to buy.

People shouldn't stress about not having an option, if indeed that's even true.

He's not a global superstar who will almost certainly tear it up in the PL. He's a good player who's lost his way a bit, so this is a calculated risk as a signing, and brave of him to try a new adventure and rediscover himself.

Barca don't want him. He hasn't worked out there. If he performs brilliantly for us this year then (1) we've had a great year from him, and (2) there's a good chance he'd want to stay rather than risk going back to Barca where it wasn't working.

Some players just don't work at some clubs. Soldado wasn't a bad player, he was brilliant in Spain; he just was a bad fit for us.

Let's hope Lenglet is a good fit for us and has a great season. Then see where we are next summer.

Good signing, will worry about the option situation next season, good thing about Barca is they don't seem to be learning their lessons and will be desperate to get him off the wage bill next summer as they look to other another 3 players out of contract massive wages to join.

Hoping for some news on Spence over the weekend and then the real transfer window begins  The one where we have some fun because all the main business we needed to do is done :D
