There are points and times where you just have to pay the money and get a key player in.
I think/hope that will be the case, but equally we can't have our pants pulled down because we're over-eager. At the moment we're trying to strike that delicate balance.

Wouldn't surprise me if Atalanta want slightly more money than they did before due to the fan backlash and are trying to cover their arses: "the offer was simply too good to refuse".

Paratici has already been quoted as saying that is exactly his way of thinking.

Worth noting this is a different thing to just bending over to Atalanta.

Makes you wonder if they can afford the permanent fee without someone else paying it by proxy, so there's possibly some posturing going on. Paying €40m for a player they will have immediately bought for €13m is one thing, but paying €60m is a bit crazy

Yep and every day I am more convinced it ends the same way. Im pretty sure the ITK around the same time with Skriniar was very positive too.
We weren't this close to Skriniar with over a month of the window to go.

Yes it doesn't seem quite as simple as us buying from Atalanta. They need to complete their purchase option first and although to us it's just pay them, sign the contracts, it's still a massive financial transaction involving millions of € and if thay are also looking to replace Romero at the same time I would think it all adds time to it.

Could even be all sorted out, but they don't want to complete until they've replaced (as you mention) and then other clubs up their valuations because they want a slice

It will be in Paratici's personal interest as well to not be a pushover, if he is found out as someone who gives in and allow teams to push up the fee, then it will happen every time and he'll be more or less finished in the industry.

Well you guys thinking he'll still come are way more optimistic than me. We've been here 1000 times where we're interested in uber player, he is interested, we won't quite pay the club valuation then Chelsea/City/Barca offer the full amount no questions asked.

By all means lets hope this is the first time we actually get the player but I think we know how this goes.

What part of Paratici's role DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND.
It amazes me how some people are so stupid to not realise we now have a DOF to deal with transfers. This level of dumb is normally found on Facebook!
I’d give up trying to explain to them Stoof.
