Don't want to accuse his character of anything that he doesn't deserve, but something about him this season just seems like he cares a bit more. Can't put my finger on it but it stands out. Love to see it anyway

He very clearly hated Conte, or at least his style of play, and I don't really blame him.

The way that Palace didn't try to press Romero and Vicario in the 2nd half when being one and two goals down is one of the strangest things I've seen on a football pitch lately.

Literally said the exact same thing when watching it live, it was very odd to watch.

Felt like he was frustrated last season. His natural instinct is to push up and defend on the front foot and be given licence on the ball. Under Conte, felt that was maybe reined in somewhat.

Also genuinely believe he had no confidence in Dier. Once you don't trust your defensive partner, especially when it's someone lauded as some kind of senior leader, think your own game can take a hit because that seed of doubt is planted as to whether your partner is going to land the defensive unit in it or not and throws you off your own game.

It was clearly tactical. One of our main modes of creating is playing straight down the middle through the press after sucking the team out. The DM and the 2 fullbacks pinch way inside to create a numerical mismatch in the center of the park, so if they press the middle opens up. Hodgson's entire game plan was to not open up. 4-4-1-1 with Hughes straight on Biss. 0 pressure on the ball until it hits that middle zone of the pitch. They they'd close us down tightly and try to turn it over for a easy counter. It worked for most the match to his credit. The players clearly got reamed out by Hodgson last week after getting mauled by Newcastle and they were trying to play out the game plan today. So the players looked nervy because they were getting booed by the fans for not pressing, but their manager clearly didn't want them to step up and open up that space. Ange even said it after the game, Palace just aren't equiped to change their structure and formation once they went down, so they just kept to plan A the whole game.

Exactly right. What opposition would press Romero knowing it's the key to us slicing them open?

I think we would have dropped points in both the last 2 games without Romero, VdV and Vicario.

That may sound like an obvious thing to say but we were a little wasteful against Fulham and we took a while to find gaps versus Palace, even when we did we messed some up with poor passes/bad choices.

Our attack hasnt been as totally fluid as it was pre-Liverpool game.

It has mostly been in 15-20m spells rather than total all out like against United and Burnley.

But its great.

We have a really solid back line now that can be trusted to deal with difficult situations and not become vulnerable.

Means we have the platform to stay in games or bide our time until the attack clicks into gear.

And thats what title winners need

Considering the football Atalanta were playing I'm not surprised. Do any Argentine players like playing that brand of football? I don't think we had a manager when we signed him yet did we? I'm sure he would have expected exciting football with the players we had though.

It actually reminded me of when 2 international teams qualify with the result as is. Just passing around at the back as the other team afraid to ruin the situation. Very strange for a home team to not go for it when behind. You would think at least 1 forward could just press as its not going to leave them outnumbered.

It is interesting how all three captains have been nominated with two winning the POTM already. Ange really knows his stuff.
