If Davison does go to Monaco do we go for Tosin or will it be Lenglet?

Out the two, surely got to be Tosin. HG, younger, likely more suited to the system. Just not convinced he is keen to come here and play second fiddle though.

Shame. Decent player.

If the fans, Conte/Mourinho hadn't completely ruined the guys confidence I would have been keen to keep him as fourth choice.
Stop reading at decent player

Unless you call shitting himself with the ball at his feet or shanking clearances decent

Or face plating on the pitch or falling over with nobody near him

If he stays he will be back up to Romero. Not 4th choice, which is different.

It’s really down to Ange. If he wants to keep him then we should offer him a new deal. If not, let the lad move on and try to reignite his career

I would hope that any incoming CB would be capable to cover both Romero/VDV (eg Tosin/Schuurs), and thus demoting Dier or Sanchez to 4th choice. However, seems like any incomings assume that we can shift at least one of our existing CBs.

If Monaco want him that might be revealing in that Tosin doesn't necessarily want to go there and maybe waiting for us to sell some players?

I’m kind of happy for him to stay, he’s had some stick over the years, but he loves this club and I can see him thrive under ange. If he’s happy to play backup then we should keep him. Who else we going to get in as a back up for that amount?

Tosin would be cheap and is homegrown. Its just whether we could get another CB because at this moment in time Sanchez is the 3rd choice and all 4th choices are bad. So happy to sell Sanchez if we get 2 CBs and still sell Dier.

A lot of people saying they would be happy to have him as 4th choice or back up. Maybe he doesn’t want that and wants to be first choice somewhere. Wouldn’t blame him wanting a move to Monaco, which is a lovely city, especially how he was treated by fans last season.

Yep. I agree with most here that if we're considering which of our current CBs is best for 3rd or 4th choice it's clearly Davinson, but I just don't see him wanting to stick around for that. I'm pretty sure there have been implications in the press that Sanchez and Tanganga want new opportunities and Dier wants to fight for his place. So, I've been assuming we sell Sanchez and Tanganga (we do need spaces opened up) and keep Dier, despite that not being ideal exactly.

You either give him a new contract extension (1+1) or sell him this summer. For what it’s worth I think he’ll be worth as much or more next summer with an extension than he will be this summer, as this system plays more to his strengths and he’s likely to get minutes behind Romero.

The real piece is if we can find an adequate permanent replacement for him as Romeros back up this summer. If not, the extension may make more sense than a financial outlay for someone we’ll once again be looking to replace.

Why would he sign a new contract though

Definitely don't give him a new contract.

We're really struggling to sell our fringe players.

If we find a buyer for him, great. If not we get through this season with some weak squad players and get rid of them at a later date.

The last thing we should be doing is extending contracts for underperforming players.

What we should be doing is getting him out this window in any capacity we can and replace him without another calm defender. Watching VDV and Romero on Saturday was actually fairly relaxing. It didnt feel like they were going to make a mistake when they were anywhere near the ball. There seems to be an amnesia from some regarding Sanchez and his career with us (clouded by sympathy because of some idiots booing him so). It is getting late in the window now so I'd even take £10 million for him, that would be fair and someone will get a bargain.

Would be the ideal triangle with Sanchez to Monaco, Tosin to Spurs and Dier to Fulham
True although really wanted to keep Sanchez as 4th choice, I wonder if this triangle happened and assuming we sell Tanganga who is no where near the level we need and being left out of squads then does Davies become cover as 4th choice CB and 2nd choice LB and Philips if absolutely needed and is that enough just having : Romero, VDV and Tosin as our out and out CB choices...?

I'd think so. You would "hope" that those three could get you through the season, with sprinkle of mins for Davies or youth in there. Esp as we're not in Europe this season.
