We would not be sanctioned - currently no ruling to say that is the case, it's purely the club's decision. As I have said before, I honestly do not care where he goes as long as we get a decent price. There is a lot of high expressed emotion in here about this but it's just a business deal with another club. It's not Spartak Moscow's fault that Russia invaded Ukraine.I’m fairly certain we could get sanctioned by doing a deal with russian clubs as well, no?
Not to mention the ethical aspects of it too. I hope, for ours and Davs sake, that we find another club for him
Oh yes, it is their fault. Nothing in Russian society, especially in sports, is disconnected from Putin and his minions. They will certainly make it a propaganda issue and point out Western hypocrisy, especially if in 2 weeks time we're hosting a "Game for Ukraine".We would not be sanctioned - currently no ruling to say that is the case, it's purely the club's decision. They are apparently owned by Lukoil who are surely sanctioned. I'm sure the clubs lawyers have looked at it but it does not sit comfortably at all.We would not be sanctioned - currently no ruling to say that is the case, it's purely the club's decision. Oh don't be ridiculous.Oh yes, it is their fault. Nothing in Russian society, especially in sports, is disconnected from Putin and his minions. They will certainly make it a propaganda issue and point out Western hypocrisy, especially if in 2 weeks time we're hosting a "Game for Ukraine".
If we sell to Spartak, it's sending a very bad signal, and, for me, it's one of Levy's worst decisions.
But as a nation we aren't supplying Yemen with weapons and placing sanctions on the Saudi's as far as I know.
I understand the point you are making that both regimes are awful ones that we shouldn't be dealing with, but I don't think they are quite the same.
I don't know how he can be worth any more than that. Last year of his contract, he's had 2 or 3 disappointing seasons back-to-back, and we're hardly drowning in interest for him. He's only worth what other clubs will offer, and if the highest offer is £13m then we have to take it.Bad Optics. Plus, as much as we rag on him, he’s still got plenty of career ahead of him. He really is worth more than that. I’m not saying he’s worth loads but certainly more than 13 mil
Hypocrisy in football?? Never! We should be though. Ironically we’re selling the Saudis weapons. Which is all down to corruption and greed.
The real difference is that Yemen is not in Europe and their citizens are brown skinned. The atrocities being committed by Saudi against the Yemen are just as bad, if not worst than Russia to Ukraine though.
It’s the last I’ll say in it but my point still stands, if we shouldn’t be dealing with Russian clubs than we sure as hell shouldn’t be dealing with Saudi clubs, especially as the top Saudi clubs have a direct link to the regime over there now they are state owned.
Whole heartedly agree with this and it's why I've given up with any moral hope for not just our club but football. We should be though. Ironically we’re selling the Saudis weapons. Which is all down to corruption and greed.

Agree with the moral comparisons but Russia are not spending anywhere near what the Saudis are doing this summer or what Qatar has been doing with PSG.Whole heartedly agree with this and it's why I've given up with any moral hope for not just our club but football.
The corruption/greed gravy train starts with governments and the moment ours pushed through the barcode sale was the time I realised were basically pissing into a hurricane trying to stand up to it all.
Saudis/Russia/Qatar will and can buy anything they want.
Are banks even allowed to accept monies coming in from Russia due to various sanctionsQuestion is... should we even be dealing with them in the first place ? ... should it even be possible with the UEFA bans to Russian teams ?... I would be surprised if Sanchez wants the move.
I know they aren't but we saw with Abramovich that their money is just as welcome.Agree with the moral comparisons but Russia are not spending anywhere near what the Saudis are doing this summer or what Qatar has been doing with PSG.
Sanchez will be the 2nd most expensive signing of all time for Spartak if he chooses to go there.
