I don't think it haw anything to do with playing for us this season. Just wants to leave on a free next year.
Regardless, it means him still being here and might put a stop to is signing a CB. Hopefully he sees the light and moves on

Dier doesn't want to leave. Wants to fight for his place apparently 😭

Surely he would be more motivated to leave if informed that he will not make the 25-man squad.
Would make it less cushy for him to just sit out his final year in anticipation of a Bosman move next summer.

I feel this is really important to point out. No one denies he was awful the first half hour, but it was so obvious Sanchez, Emerson, Skipp and Solomon didn't work well together, which almost always ended with leaving Sanchez in crappy situations.

For example, I've seen him be criticized on here for both hitting the passes to Solomon too short, forcing him to run back to pick them up, and for hitting the passes straight at the opposition when trying to reach Solomon further up.

This happened again and again: Emerson went into an over-crowded centre of the pitch while Solomon pushed forward and Skipp didn't drop down to receive the ball, leaving Sanchez with extremely limited options.

My point here is – there's a lot of finger-pointing at individual players (funnily enough, at almost all the players in their separate threads), when the awful performance was very much a team effort. Sanchez was crap, but so was almost everyone else. But not everyone had the spotlight on them to the same extent as Sanchez.
I think the problem is not that Sanchez was the only poor one, but it always seems to be him who is one of the poor ones. He's become synonymous with dire Tottenham performances. In six years he's had more than enough opportunities to show he's good enough, and while there have been a couple of periods where he has been consistent and quietly impressive, they tend to be short lived.

I agree with the mitigating tactical reasons you've highlighted but at this stage he just needs to go.

Then a loan makes the most sense.

I don't dislike Dier. He's played a decent part in our team. But I do worry he isn't suited any more. For me, Sanchez is the better suited. But it also matters what their mindset over playing for Spurs is.

He’s fighting for a place on the bench at the moment. He needs to accept he’s way out of the picture and look for pastures new. Fulham is a good move for him.

Which is entirely his prerogative.

Equally, ours is to trim the fat to allow us to add new recruits and if Dier refuses to entertain even loan moves and remain in England then we are well within our rights to eventually cut ties by way of mutual termination.

No hard feelings but no room for sentiment either.

I agree we all see the winning triangle for all parties here.

3D chess theory, but I wonder how much we are actually actively manipulating this. Eg… lower the fee for Sanchez so Monaco bite and suddenly they don’t want Adarabioyo. Meanwhile we reject Burnley offer for Dier, so that he’s available to be used in negotiations with Fulham. Adarabioyo is already training alone at Fulham, so may now see us as an actual viable destination.
Dier and Sanchez off the books, Adarabioyo comes in to compete with Romero/VdV. Wages saved, 2x non HG gone, one HG in, open up other opportunities.

Can't sell Sanchez and Dier, not this window anyway
The better option is Dier and Tosin swap deal, loan Tanganga
Of course you can!

Ideally sell 3 and bring in Tosin and Schurrs but more than happy this season to have;

Romero, van de Ven, Tosin, Phillips and even Dorrington for season with no European football and now one Cup competition.

I honestly would rather have VdV, Romero, Tosin with Phillips/Dorrington backing up if we get injury or suspensions. We need the players off the books and we have a very small amount of games this year comparatively.

We don't really need them both off the books this window and it's way too early to say Phillips or Dorrington are ready for this level. I think they're both out of contract next year anyway so whoever is not sold now will be gone next summer. Centre back is a key position and we need senior established players there. It's not like we can bed them in using early European games either.
