What are you implying? Because what I think you are implying is not pleasant.
I assume he was making a joke based on the premise that sometimes foreign players can't speak great English. The punchline is based around that fact that Americans speak the same language.

There's literally no downside to this - 2m is nothing, and even if he bombs in Europe the MLS will buy him back for similar. Of course if he improves we've got a star in an emerging market.

Something to do with the "international transfer certificate" being held over until the end of the season. So in effect the deal is agreed with the player and agreed between the clubs but not lodged.

If this is the case - US plays in the Gold Cup next summer, which will allow Yedlin to be called in for a number of US games between now and the end of the tournament - potentially bringing the 75% of games into the picture by the end of the Gold Cup - and of July.

So maybe we agree to the deal now, he stays in Seattle through next summer, maybe coming over here to train in January, and then the transfer certificate goes through next summer?

I see why some might look at this cynically as no more than a 'marketing' signing. But I think there's more to it than that. He is pretty good. But more importantly, perhaps Pooch is strategically looking to sign players that are 'like for like', so that when a player is out injured or simply missing a game through suspension, you can plug in a similar type of player to fill their role. It's clear that he likes one of his fullbacks to be more attacking in nature. If Walker is out, that leaves him with Naughton, and they are nothing alike in terms of the tactics Pooch wants to employ. Look at the Vorm signing... I think that says much more about our Coach's intentions when it comes to bedding in a system that won't require modification when players are missing. I am going to choose to see this signing in a positive light that is emblematic of new head coach's tactical philosophy.

Doesn't really matter now (although I still stand by the fact that the reporter who got the quotes says it was about a transfer to Spurs).

The most reliable football journo in the USA (apparently) says it's done and ITK says it's done. I'm happy.
which itk said it was done??

He looked good in the Belgium game was very poor when he played against us. I've seen him a couple of other times and I'd describe his play as "naïve". Good going forward but unimpressive defensively.

Jesus. Sounds like Walker!
