he is a 10. playing him at cm takes away his runs into the box to score. would be a waste

He didn't play as a 10 for Milton Keynes Dons did he? Thought he played in central midfield?

He has achieved loads more than the other nominees, ridiculous if he doesn't win it.
Has he?

Sanches was incredible all of last season for Benfica before joining Bayern for up to 80m euros, then winning the best young player at the Euros.

Rashford has 12 goals in 23 senior starts aged 18.

All three are great candidates. None have 'achieved far more' than the others.

Edit: I forgot Christensen, Monchengladbach's player of the year last season ahead of the £30m+ Granit Xhaka as a 19-year-old (for the majority of the season; until April) CB.

Kingsley Coman, who at the age of 20 has won 4 league titles in France, Italy and Germany.

The two players Alli gets compared to the most are Gerrard and Lampard but worth noting, Lampard was 25 when he scored in double figures in a league season for the first time and 26 when he assisted more than 7 in a PL season. Gerrard was 25 when he first scored in double figures and 27 when he assisted more than 2. Scholes (completely different type of player though), only scored in double figures twice and never assisted more than 5 in single PL season.

Gianluigi Donnarumma has had a pretty incredible season for a 16yo too.

37 apperances for Milan after breaking through this year, also now capped at national level starting against France for the Italian senior team.

Not aimed at your good self, Alli or refering to anyone in particular but it is a bit rich to see those offering 'critique and constructive criticism' are the same people who bring up the word 'agenda' and call others fkin stupid the second someone else has a different opinion.
Imo if you accuse anyone of having an agenda then you're probably bit of a twat.
We're just football fans talking shit online. Who the hell has the time or energy for AN AGENDA?
'Just nipping upstairs for a bit darling to work on my AGENDA'.
Ok. Hows it going love.
'Yeah really well thanks.' lol.

Brilliant, people who cry agenda on here remind me of blair's labour screaming racist at anyone questioning immigration.

Seriously who actually has an agenda? How does posting opinions on a Spurs forum further an agenda? We're not Bond villains trying to take over the world

Can't believe some of the comments on here to be honest. Alli is a 20 year old lad in his second season in the Premier League after an amazing first season. He hasn't started as well as he did last year but that is because he has had to play a number of different positions this year in CM, LW and no10.

Other teams are targeting him aswell as he is such a dangerous player and he will need a bit of time to get used to this, but for me he is one of our most important players and does exactly what Poch wants from his team. The amount of times he drives forward with the ball, closes down other players with athleticism and the mileage he clocks up every game is testament to that.

Criticism based on the understanding of he other factors I don't mind but to say he definitely should be benched etc is a bit far fetched for me.

Why are people saying it's only this year he's playing in multiple positions when he did exactly the same last season?

I'd rather see Eriksen deeper and Alli further forward. Not many players can match Alli's forward thinking runs from AM position and Eriksen for me adds that intelligence to our build up play a little deeper down the pitch.

I personally struggle with Alli as one of two CMs as he isn't disciplined and just has that eagerness to be way too involved in the final third (which isn't a bad thing, but why he should be higher up the pitch). He has that magic that can change games. If we played like Chelsea did with Lampard he would be fine as he'd have two other men behind him doing the donkey work, Lampard had zero defensive duties.

4-3-3 will always get the best out of Alli, like we have kinda been playing the last couple of games with him & eriksen floating in front of wanyama. 10 is too far up the pitch while a 2CM requires too much responsibility from him.
