I would hope we bring in another attacker to replace Bergwijn. We are an injury or suspension ( Richarlison 1st game of season) away from just having Lucas Moura as our only senior attacker on the bench.

Unless of course Conte decides to keep one of Lo Celso, Gil, Scarlett, Devine or Parrott for his squad next season.

If we don't splash out big on a Bastoni or Gvardiol then the money should be there to buy a CB and attacker especially if we can offload Rodon, Emerson, Reguilon, Winks etc.

Totally agree with this. If:
- someone steps up in pre-season; or
- the right player isn’t available at the right price

…then we might just stick with what we have.

It’s a position that it would be great to fill, it it’s less important than RWB, LCB and another defender, IMO

I won't bank on someone stepping up in pre-season. FFS I thought Gedson was going to solve our RB woes in 2020...

Doesn't Richarlison replace Bergwijn? He can play in the same position but also can lead the line better. Don't get me wrong another attacker would be great but more so to replace Moura. 5 quality attackers for the front 3 should be enough and we have Perisic to cover left forward and a youngster could be kept for extra depth.

One of those attackers will definitely be kept if no more attackers are brought in.

OP is specifically mentioning about 1 injury or suspension and we are left with only Moura off the bench. For example in first game of PL season as things stand we only have Moura on the bench.

To be fair, it's not quite that. One of Perisic or Sessegnon would be there also, they can't both play LWB.

5 senior players for the back 3 plus 1 youngster (Tanganga?) and 5 for the front 3 plus 1 youngster should be enough though. Like I say Perisic can cover further forward too. I think 6 senior forwards is a bit overkill, they need to get a good amount of game time. 5 senior players allows enough rotation while a few youngsters for extra depth. I'm not sure we ever had more attacking options that that when we were last in a CL season.

Kane, backup striker (Janssen, Llorente), Eriksen, Son, Alli, Lamela, Lucas and then at times a chancer like Nkoudou, N'jie, etc.

I think 6/7 forward players was fairly typical back then, although that would've been for 4 positions whereas now we only have 3 forward slots with the wing backs acting as 4th and 5th forwards. Also Lamela was probably injured about 70% of the time...

For comparison Liverpool had 6 forwards for 3 positions in their CL squad last season but 2 of those were Minamino, who is certainly no better than Lucas, and Origi who barely plays. Went up to 7 once Diaz signed.

Yeah plus we have Alfie Devine who although you wouldn't expect him ready to start any games in the league, is clearly seen as a player with high potential who will be back-up in that slot most likely.

I think the key ones really are the wing backs and support forwards as they will need to rotate the most. So having Spence and Doherty with Sess and Perisic for wing back, Richarlison and Moura to rotate with Son and Kulusevski should be enough. Richarlison and Son can also cover Kane and Perisic can cover further forward. For the example you mentioned the 6th forward could be a youngster for us as they won't need to play too often. It also will help in CL where we need club trained options, Spence can replace Winks so another club trained youngster to replace Clarke and be our 6th forward could work.

Completely agree. We are 1 injury away from just Lucas off the bench , we 100% need a decent 6th attacking option, UNLESS the plan is Perisic can cover if needed and we will therefore be keeping Reggi & Sess so if that happens we aren’t short at LWB.

In an ideal world we bring in a Maddison type who can play in a midfield 3 or as one of the tucked in n.o10’s.

But this is the Spence thread so back to that and let’s hope this gets done very soon so he can join up with Korea. ?

That would be the way i'd go personally. Get Spence and Lenglet in for Korea because it's core business, then target Bremer. Wait for the outgoings then potentially swoop for a CAM with the £50m plus we'll likely get. If any further attackers are required for the bench, look at Lingard, or keep one of Scarlett, Parrott, Gil, Lo Celso around for the season. My choice would be to opt for Lingard or keep Gil as Lo Celso is a saleable asset.

No question Perisic, Forster, Bissouma, Richarlison, Lenglet , Spence, Bremer, CAM and Lingard or Gil kept is 10/10 window. Squad would be in amazing shape.
