Maybe that was earlier in the window when they could afford to put up resistance.

Perhaps as time has gone on yhey have realised that their situation is weaker and they could still do with a few off the books.
I guess this isn't correct?

I feel like it's been a common thread to all Paratici's deals - that each new player who he approaches has links to another Tottenham player via their current or former club or country. I think this is to help jumpstart building a ready made squad for Nuno.

There’s at least two reasons why I seriously doubt Barcelona would really consider selling him this summer.

Firstly because they are very light in midfield with Moriba leaving, so Roberto is now considered a midfielder. So they need Emerson in order to have two right backs.

Secondly: They’ll have to share any profit 50/50 with Betis this summer. Barca has paid €15 million for Emerson, so a sale for, say, €25 million would only mean a €5 mill profit. Keep him for a season and they’ll keep the money themselves. And with all their new signings now registered, they don’t desperately need to sell anyone they’ll rather keep this summer.

So just inflate the Moriba fee and cut the sell on to Betis?

Also known as the Davies Vorm gambit.

What about if they loan him to us for a season and then sell him? Would that get around the profit share? As, you know, we have a penchant for a loan to buy nowadays...

He has a very peculiar running style and looks incredibly awkward on the ball.

Haven't seen anything of him so can't comment on whether or not he would be a good addition if FP managed to get it over the line.

Yeah, that’s a possibility of course, but Barca and Betis has a very, very close and good relationship (which probably was a reason why they co-signed Emerson in the first place), and I kind of doubt they’d fuck Betis over for a fee of a couple of millions. But what do I know… money talks and all that.

We have Tanganga who has started the season on fire and currently we have Doherty AND aurier. Even if we sold Aurier then we’d still have 2 RB’s and we certainly don’t need 3 so we’d have to then sell Doherty also ?‍♂️

Rather we went for Tomyasu who looks a solid player who can cover RB & CB.

Sign Emerson and then Tanganga slides into the RB/CB slot.
