He's also not just an asset in maintaining intensity should he come off the bench. More often than not he'll set up a good chance for another attacker, should those chances get converted in dying stages of games it can be the difference between nervy endings to close games (which we've seen cost us points) and finishing a game with that 2nd goal.

For instance, Kane scores the chance Lamela sets him up with against Fulham it's not just an exclamation on the victory, it's assuring 3 points that were otherwise still at risk of slipping away. Not to mention his willingness to still break up the pitch later on does wonders in relieving pressure in games we're under the cosh.

Keep him fit and he's key to a strong run in.

he really does look quicker and more powerful in his running than he ever has, before he always looked like a piece of paper in the wind trying to get past players. the only other player i can remember thinking this about was rosicky, i swear that guy got quicker in his 30s than he'd ever been before that. hopefully this time he can have an injury-free run now and this "closer" role he seems to have adopted really suits the qualities he brings to the table.

If he can stay fit until the end of the season, I’d like to see the club offer him a new contract.

He has different qualities from our other attackers.

He’s always been positive and no one in the current squad can compare with his tenacity.

He’s playing some of his best football at the moment. Making the right decisions, committing defenders, picking the right passes.

A perfect squad player. Wouldn’t dream of letting him go.

Hes a dog fighter. Best for the final 25minutes while we are leading. Hounding the opponents pressing them. But hes not a starter. And not a player who can turn the game around and wins it for us

Maybe not. Yet funnily enough there have been times when the match has turned for the worse right after Lamela coming off.

Seems like our attacking players are coming back into form, he's gonna be key for the run in and games in Europa.

I think it's unlikely that he will be offered a new contract. But if he can stay fit for the rest of the season, and if Mourinho really does like him as much as people claim, that may be enough to convince Levy that keeping him in the squad would be a good decision.

So here's hoping! It would be a dream come true if he could spend some more years playing for Spurs and maybe even finish his career with us. I want it to happen as much as I want us to win the PL and CL... it's all I think about these days really, and it hurts so much.

Okay sorry, that got a bit over the top at the end, haha. :D

Personally I wouldn’t offer him a new contact yet let’s see where things are by next Christmas. I feel we’re going to need one or two younger attackers in the next couple of years

I always defend him and there is a reason he has been here so long. He is quality. Gives 100%, never hides, never bottles it, and when on form, he is one of our most creative players. He brings things that nobody else in our squad possess.

If it wasn't for his injury problems I think he would have got a big move in Europe.

Why is this only ever said about lefties? There are loads of right footed players whose left foot is just for standing
I can't think of another player at the top level of world football who is as reluctant to use their weak foot as Lamela is. He has turned "playing football with one foot and standing on the other" in to an art form.

I love him.
