Cmon guys, we all know injuries were Lamela's issue. La liga suits him as it's less physical, he'll get to extend his career a couple more years and maybe go back to Argentina. Would have loved him to stay but it wouldn't have been fair to us or him.

For his career, it was definitely the right move to go to both La Liga and to a more winning club such as Sevilla. For our sake, however, it was a very bad move, as we are clearly worse now without his influence. But this club has been taking all the wrong decisions since the new stadium opened.

If we kept Lamela he would still be trying to do too much, and a yard off the pace.
The guy gave everything when he was on the pitch, but he had plenty of time to kick on and didn't.

Not sure I get your point?

Unless your point is that you didn't particularly rate him, thought he tried to do too much & wasn't to your personal liking?

In which case, I do get your point, I understand you point and he's still a better option than what Lo Celso has shown to be.

My point was that people seem to forget that he was a frustrating player for us.

He was ok, but nothing more. Always willing to put a shit in, but the right time to move him on.

Fans want LoCelso gone as he has had 3 seasons and hasn't done anything... And it's true, but injuries and covid have made them all stop start. Lamela hasn't done much in more seasons.

At the moment it seems neither of them are the right fit for us.

I don't at all disagree mate.

I can only speak for myself & my post still stands, while going along with yours at the same time.

Lamela had injury woes, just as Lo Celso has had since the first minute he walked into the club. And out of the 2 injury plagued players, I know which one I would personally have preferred we cashed in on.

Sadly my opinion counts for shit & the one injury plagued player that actually played like it meant something to him was the one who was sold.

It looks like he's playing the football we know he's capable of and, more importantly, for me at least, is he's seemingly being appreciated by the supporters.

I couldn't be happier for 'Coco' and I truly hope he's able to maintain his form and fitness. I'll never not love the lad.

Soon enough, Bryan will take the mantle over from Lamela as a player who gives their all for the team. Though he won't offer any shithousery or that natural smokey eye effect that made it seem like Erik was wearing make-up.

I really like Lamela and am happy to see him doing well but am definitely glad he was sold too. At least in his time with us and this was pretty much over his entire Spurs career, you never knew how many games you were gonna get from him before he picked up another injury.

Also I think we are trying to enter a bit of a new age and transfer the squad but not only that, it can be difficult to sell at the moment and we've been going on a bit of a one in one out system and even though Lamela would have been lower down on that list of players to potentially move on, he still would have been on that list nonetheless and you can't really afford to pick and choose the order in which you sell those players.

Obligatory update.

Only played 30-odd minutes today but did three great bits of skill. Unfortunately, the clip of him doing skills in the corner to waste time for 40 seconds isn’t online anywhere. Found this one, though:

Lamela’s only started one league match but now has 4 goals.

Can't believe we pretty much gave Sevilla money to take him away. I guess the market's value is set by people's opinions, and this shows how people are really not that bright.
