Without getting the bed-wetters ‘Lamela fan club’ out, please take my question in the context I mean it constructively.

Would he get into Yanited, citeh, Liverpuddle? Can this be answered without blinkers please. Enthusiasm, and energy is one thing, but have we moved on? Is he a game changer? Because these are the questions I personally believe he has to answer.
I don’t think he produced end product as regularly as son, dele, eriksen, Moura(in time) so for that reason great squad player but if we want a player who is say 4th choice of attacking 3 then if we can, we should upgrade on Lamela. I think he’s a good player and has come on leaps and bounds but if we really want to get to the top, in my opinion he’s not quite good enough. He does however fit our style quite well.

Moura in time?
What exactly does that mean?
I'm all for people debating the pro's and con's but suggesting a player will outscore another player based on nothing is a bit much.
Dele, Son and Eriksen outscored and had more assists last season but Lamela was injured for the Majority of the season.
The season when they were all fit and all playing Lamela outscored them all.
And Eriksen had one more assist.
We haven't lost when Lamelas started this season.

Some perspective... What stats are you comparing? In the famous 2015\16 so oft referred too and in the PL

Dele 10 PL goals
Eriksen 6 PL goals
Lamela 5 PL goals.
Son 4 PL goals (also his 1st season)
Toby 4 PL goals.

Now if you take into account the Europa league Lamela scored quite a few against some lower level teams.

.

Yeah, those lower level EL teams that keep pissing all over the likes of Southampton and Everton whenever they make it to the Europa League. Can we all please just stop pretending that teams outside the PL top 6 are oh so superior to the rest of Europa League level teams please?

And I clearly remember Lamela scoring against the likes of manu and city as well, but don't let that little fact gets in the way of your narrative.

I rate Lamela, clearly as does Poch.
He is improving every week and has a point to prove.
I believe he owes us after all our support and he realizes this.
Everywhere you go, always take Lamela with you

Yes those Europa league teams that Dele Eriksen and Son played against as well.

And where they scored as well. The fact remains.. He did not outscore them in the league. Perhaps me saying lowly opposition is wrong.. As you can only score against that which is in front of you. However the competition which matters most PL he lagged the aforementioned players.

There's literally no point even discussing this, two seasons ago europa league stats have no baring on today.

Currently dele, son and Eriksen are all better then Lamela and should start above him, Lamelas good but why try and paint him as better then that when he's objectively not.

You wouldn't get much change for 50m to "upgrade" on Lamela. Not a priority, we're bursting at the seams with AM's. Besides, he's quality in my opinion and will only get better the more he plays after such a massive layoff.

Going back to Herc's question, it would depend if we were to replace Lamela with a proven 'game changer.'

I'm personally not convinced by Malcom or Sessegnon coming in and immediately changing a game as they are young and will need time to adapt etc.

Also Lamela has produced a few potential game changing moments this season. The assist to Kane against Leicester, he came on against Arsenal and made a few chances one to Dele which should have been finished.

If he has come back as a really good trainer, who's going to compete with the current first choice AMs and, with Moura, be ready to fill in when needed then I don't see the point in replacing him. We have three elite level AMs playing behind the best striker in the world. Lamela seems hungry to include himself in the conversation which is fantastic.

Your subjective opinion is not an objectiv opinion.

The question is why doesn't it fucking matter?

Why can't we just enjoy having son,Ali, eriksen, lamela and Lucas . 5 top class attacking players who can all come in to the starting 11 and do a great job .

It's a hell of a lot better than previous options. We've never had it so good on attack

Are they though? Our last two matches we've had the experience of witnessing a Son-less midfield formation (as he was playing a bit further down the field), and a Dele-less midfield once (against Swansea). Both of these teams included Lamela, and both times we showed as much flair and creativity as we have all season long.

I dunno, maybe things are not as clear cut as you think they are?

Lamela has 8 premier league goals over 5 seasons and a 102 games. None of those figures are any thing to get excited about why prolong the agony.

Exactly. Even if Lamela is our 5th best AM, that’s a fucking great position to be in. Only City can boast a better selection of attacking midfielders.

In 2015/16 (his last full season due to last seasons injury) only Manchester City ourscored us in the league (by two goals). This was with us imploding for the last few games, WBA onwards, if you remember. Harry Kane finished top scorer. Lamela scored 5 and assisted 9 league goals, meaning he was involved in 20% of our league goals directly (and I imagine a good chunk more indirectly). This was with 28 starts and 6 appearances off the bench.

If Lamela is capable of making such a comprehensive contribution to such a strong attack, then if fully fit now he’s more than good enough to be one of our attacking options. If that means he’s 5th choice then so be it, someone has to be. Injuries happen, suspensions happen, players lose form. Frankly, if he’s happy to stay and fight given the levels of competition to play then we should consider ourselves blessed, not look to dismantle the best collection of creative midfielders we’ve ever had.

Yes, by spending a huge amount of money we could improve Lamela, but surely we’d be better off spending that money to improve an area of the team where we are light, like someone who can compete with/ succeed Dembele.

Well it's an Internet forum, lots of things are discussed which are of no concern to me and I just don't post about it, I suggest you do the same if it's how you feel about this topic.

But I personally disagreed with the overrating of Lamela as I feel it's counter productive so I just stated that I disagreed, it's just how a forum works. I agree with you it's nice to have 5 decent AMs but I don't agree with people saying he's better rather dele or that he's the god some make him out to be and so I posted that and tbh don't see the problem.
