Until Poch can take out Alli I don't know the worth of updating other players.

Starting to think there is some boardroom politics in this. It might be hard for Poch to play the argentine over the english golden boy, even though Lamela is so much more talented.

I would keep Lamela over Alli any day. Alli wouldnt be near any of the other top teams starting eleven.

Whether people agree with you or not I've no idea why you're getting Dislikes and Spams from people just for expressing your opinion. Such a ridiculous reaction from people sometimes if a poster happens to hit a topic people decide they don't like.

How has Moura got ahead of Lamela? I'm so confused, he's been here two minutes, has hardly got on the pitch and when he has he's been good but hasn't really done anything that warents him to be placed ahead of any one of our current AMs.

I too am confused. Not saying that he wont turn out to be the better player but Moura has yet to prove himself. Lamela was definitely better and contributed more than him in our last game where both started

I think he’ll end up in the squad. He’s still just getting back to full fitness there was no need to take him to those friendlies. If he performs like he has been recently for the rest of the season he’ll have a good shot

After the trashing Argentina received yesterday, I think Sampaoli should start paying some attention to Erik. Having a warrior like Lamela on your side can make all the difference in the world.

lol You've got to be kidding me?! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Over who though, their squad is stacked with quality forwards, they're even struggling to pick Dybala.

We should wish for him to have the summer off and cone fresh for the pre season, it would be far better for us.

Just utterly pointless

Explain?

If Lamela kicks it up a gear in the run in and gets into the squad why should that not be celebrated? Argentina is a fantastic squad and I'm sure Lamela would be in utter joy being in the squad rather than watching from the couch. I understand some fans want our players wrapped in cotton wool all times they're not in a spurs shirt but they are human beings themselves. I personally hope he makes the team and in regards to Lanzini, who is a decent player, but very much not a wild card like Lamela is who offers something quite different.

-Because Argentina have an abundance of quality forwards and attacking mids who are in better shape than him
-Because he's still seen as a risk being out for so long and is still getting back to full fitness
-Because they don't even need him

Like it or not the national team have moved on for the time being from Lamela and since he's been out for a long time they've called up other players who have been able to do the job but their problem isn't with their forwards, it's with their midfielders and defenders, either way taking Lamela won't make a shred of difference and as I mentioned before it' s better for us if he doesn't go, he'll be only a handful of players who won't go to the World Cup so he'll be fresh after a pre season so it will only aid us in the long run.

He won't. He has never played under Sampaoli. He's not going to take him to the WC without testing him.

It's better for us he gets a proper time off and is ready for the start of next season.

Bit of a non discussion re. Lamela anyway because he wouldn't play with Messi, Dybala, Higuain, Di Maria, Aguero all available.

Argentina’s options in the forward areas are ridiculous. Coco’s not getting in there.

A few years ago he was breaking into the team with these players. Scored a brilliant volley vs Germany in 2014.

Indeed, and it was documented that they were keeping really close tabs on his rehab prior to the 2014 World Cup and he was almost selected despite all the issues and injury. He was then also selected in two subsequent Copa America squads, prior to his latest hip injury. However it is a different manager again, now, for Argentina..

While it would be unexpected and a little surprising , i don't think it would be a total shock if he was in the squad (If he was to finish the season particularly strongly) - he was always viewed highly.

Personally I think it would be better for us if he didn't go, but then again it would also serve as a huge boost..

No, I'm not kidding you.

I've been following the Argentina national team pretty much my whole life because my dad is a huge fan of them and he's the one who basically indoctrinated me into football (and tennis). I sincerely think the main reason this Argentinian generation is falling to live up to its potential (which is to win absolutely everything) is because most of their players don't have the leves of intensity and ferocity of players like Lamela in crucial matches.

I don't know if you've noticed, but Lamela's attitude over the pitch often infects the rest of his team mates to the point that a lot of people have identified him as the one who leads our pressing game. You add that to a squad as formidable as Argentina, and that's probably your solution to make them stop playing cup finals like pussies.*

Disclamer: I actually think Argentina played rather well the WC and they were a bit unlucky not to win that game (and Germany was also the strongest possible rival they could face)... but they definitely were a let down at those two Copa America finals they lost in penalties against Chile.
