Nice to see serious Jose starting to smile when speaking of bringing on Lamela "we knew that he would, he would give us that...wild...disorganized...intensity. But at that time of the game we needed that."

That's spot on.
But it's also frustrating at the same time.

He is just so chaotic, you have no idea where it's going.

His intensity has never been in question. He has the heart 100% it’s his end product and fitness problems that have always held him back

His end product has been good in the last few weeks but we never seem to finish the chances he creates. Kane responsible for three of them.
Bet he practices ball rolls with socks at home with his kid.
I know professionals play on surfaces like carpet, but being able to roll a ball under your foot with studs is not easy. Bale uses it occasionally, too. Very effective when you want to retain close control.

Agree with others that he really helped us see the game out, and also gave Kane a great pass where he could have sealed it. Good player to have in the squad if he keeps fit.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but it was his birthday today too, so I'm glad he got to enjoy it.

Could you please link where you got the quote from? Can't seem to find it and would love to read or hear anything else he may have said about Lamela!

It's from the horse's mouth (Jose) in the BBC interview. They usually have three or four minutes with him after the games and put it in their sports section before cutting it for MOTD. He talks about Lamela with a smile from 2:06...

I'd like to see him played at RW instead of as a number 10. When he came on today he played centrally and Lucas was pushed off to the right (where he is less effective IMO).

I think Lamela would deputize Bale well on the right (i.e. the ball rolls when he played off the right against Fulham) with Lucas & Dele being our primary options behind the striker.

Assisted the assist, another good cameo from him. The older he gets the stronger, the faster and the less injury prone he gets perhaps

Did enjoy his no-look pass immediately after skipping past their player next to the dugouts, where he seemingly made eye contact with Roy Hodgson as he played the ball

Yeah he looks so strong and fit nowadays. Holds of players really well. But he is big at 6ft. We have a lot of tall attackers.

His pass over the top to Son for our fourth goal was really good. Jose is right about Lamela’s wild intensity, it really helps us manage the last period of games where our guys get tired. His energy and enthusiasm is a great asset to have. Taking Bale off could have meant a massive drop in quality, but Lamela came on and looked very dangerous and worked his bollocks off.
