No idea, I can see him going back to Italy on a cut price deal which would be awful for us as under normal circumstances we'd get a lot of money for him. I think it's more then just an injury as I think Poch would be more straight with the fans if that were the case, it's probably some mental issues or something. Not meaning it in a harsh way but Lamela has always come across as pretty fragile and he has had some bad shit happen to him recently.

How so?

No. I want him playing for us and doing the important things he does for our team. We won't replace him for £30million imo.

He should be given the time he needs to get well. But if he really NEEDS to leave to be happy. Then he should.

Only if he is so mentally fucked he'll never play well for us again or if he really has some serious hip injury problems. If he gets back to at least last season's form then no.

No fraking way

30 million gets you the likes of sissoko and zaha these days.

What's the combined price of gkn and janssen? Waste

There's a reason lamela and eriksen are the only Beatle survivors
All of the above

I don't know why some people are saying "it looks really dodgy because we keep getting told he's nearly back and then we don't see him" - we've never been told he's nearly back. Poch has said that he's getting closer to being able to train with the first team, that's all - he's never said he's anywhere near playing yet.

I don't think it looks 'dodgy' in any way, there's been nothing to suggest that but I don't think it's wrong to say it's been a little strange with the fact in mind that I can't remember knowing so little about a player supposedly returning from injury, or maybe even the medical staff knowing so little as any sort of timeframe has never really been given since he was initially out.

We could really do with him right now. When in our 3-4-3 the only player who can come off the bench and do something is Son. I'm starting to really like Winks but he's not a player you'd bring on to change a game if you're losing.

We won't see him this season. Even if you wanted to sell him; who would buy him? He's been out for a season with a mystery injury
Just because you don't know what it is doesn't mean it's a mystery injury.

In any case, it's been said on multiple times it's a hip injury, and obviously a chronic one if it has kept him out for this long. Just because they don't publicly reveal the specific details it doesn't make it a mystery.

I think it's because of that first year with us where he had mystery injury after mystery injury and it was never really explained. The same thing seems to be happening again both with the player and with the rumours surrounding him.

There was some news a couple of months back that I scoffed at at the time, saying he wouldn't be back this season. Hopefully that isn't true but until we see him training with the other players that doubt will be there.

He posted on his instagram story he was doing pilates at home last night.

I've never done Pilates but obviously it would help with injury recuperation. I just wonder at what point in an injury it would be ok to do as isn't some Pilates quick strenuous?

To be fair, Poch has been pretty openly irritated by the situation and has said on numerous occasions he doesn't get what the issue is.

Don't get why people are so defensive on this situation, it's odd, just admit it. Doesn't mean Lamela's crap, or wants away, or we should sell him. It's an unusual situation, as Poch has said himself

In my experience of back injuries, pilates is what doctors tell you to do to keep you quiet while they hope that everything will magically improve on its own.

This. It's obviously concerning when a player has an injury that is not diagnosed by the medical team ( both our own and Roma's) and our manager is alluding to mental issues hindering his return to training ( which have been going on now for some time).

At the very least he has an undiagnosed injury, for which there appears to be no prognosis and which is similar to the one which curtailed his first season here.

I would say that is pretty worrying in itself, even before you explore all the other possible ramifications of what might be going on.

Perhaps he should be uploading images of his MRI Hip to Instagram, to silence those pesky old doubters...
