I believe it would be very unlikely that we'll see Bale and Lamela in Spurs shirts next season. But, if we were able to afford it then the fact that Lamela plays in a similar position to Bale wouldn't really be an issue as I think Soldado will be the only player in the front 3 that will have a set position. I could see Lamela and Bale having free roles with a solid midfield behind them.

A 4-2-3-1 with Chadli-Bale-Lamela and Soldado would be incredible.

I love Townsend but, sell him for 10M and use the money to help finance Lamela

I disagree.
I do think getting Lamela would be a tremendous coup for our club (as unlikely as it may be).
However, I believe it's imperative for us to hold on to our own players, be it Bale or Townsend.
Especially the young ones with lots of potential.
I'd give Townsend a chance (as I believe he's capable of becoming a top quality wide forward).
As long as he improves by developing self-discipline and link-up play, he will be an excellent player, imho.

Does anyone know if Lamela is playing for Roma tonight against Chelsea because if not it could be a reason to get excited!

At this stage if we don't sell Bale someone else will have to be sold to be able to afford Lamela

Well yes, but I thought the ultimate goal was to try and keep Bale (not buy Lamela).
In other words, the potential signing of Lamela is just a way to try and adequately replace Bale (if he does in fact end up leaving). As opposed to selling Bale (just so we can buy Lamela).
I personally hope and pray that Bale stays.
The only way I'd be against it, is if his presence (after this whole mess) puts our club in jeopardy by creating discord in the dressing room (and on the pitch), as a byproduct of Bale's alienation from the team.

I actually think id keep Townsend over Lennon if a choice had to be made now to keep one. i think we all know the ceiling of lennons form which is not bad at all , but i think the potential in Townsend warrants the risk im sure the scousers would pay a high price for lennons signature if whored to them. This would allow us to sign someone like lamela then.

Dont think we should be selling lennon to rivals even if its an absurd/over priced amount

no i agree in principle but there always the best bet to get twice the market value and maybe newcastle at a push.

Don't think I'd sell either Townsend or Lennon. Lennon is criminally underrated; can't name a single winger in the league who was better defensively than he was last season, saved Walker's ass on countless occasions. I don't think we need to sell either to raise funds for Lamela. Should Parker, Ekotto and either one of Defoe or Adebayor leave that should raise over 10M comfortably.

As much as I hate to say, I'm gonna have to agree. If presented with such a difficult choice, I'd probably make the same decision.
It may sound weird, but the more I watch Andros, the more I begin to get convinced he has great potential to develop into a class footballer.

The ultimate goal is to keep Bale, the point I am making is that Lamela does not need to be a Bale replacement. He could be purchased by selling others.

I wish that was possible, but I just don't think that large of a purchase can be financed by selling some players, especially when we still have other priorities (on the defensive side of the ball).
TBH, I am not nearly as concerned about our attacking options ATM, as I am about our back four (CB & LB to be exact, and even RB). If we reinforce the back 4, we should be fine, imo.

If we were to sell one of Townsend or Lennon to fund Lamela's purchase (and they'd both realistically demand around 10m ) i'd go with Townsend. Lennon is a valuable asset to us. He's synonymous with spurs these days and a big character in the dressing room. This is not to mention the job he does for us on the pitch. If we sell him and bring in Lamela, we'll have a plethora of selfish inside wingers looking to cut in and congest the midfield. Man city have struggled with this exact problem and thats why they signed navas who i feel will be a huge player for them. Lennon is a provider first and foremost and given our lack of creators we need to hold on to that. He is a dependable premiership winger and thats invaluable to a manager. Plus i can see Soldado loving the fella, he seems the type of striker who thrives on out and out wingers
