Don't think anyone in football needs the media to know what's going on... Lamela's agent should be sounding out better deals - it's what he's paid for. Suspect this always happens & suspect we've benefitted from it (why do you think Capoe didn't end up at Cardiff?)

(Cue neg rep avalanche)

Eh?

What is Levy supposed to do......kidnap and gag any f**ker (wholly unrelated to Spurs as they might be) who dares mention, in any medium, that we are trying to complete a deal for Lamela?

Seriously, I'd love to hear your suggestions.

Maybe we need to give agents better fees.

I hate it, but unfortunately they are the ones in control

I thought that we already were one of the highest payers?

But even if you're right, it still wouldn't stop these stories getting into (and staying in) the public realm. Agents will still be hawking their players around in the hopes of an even better deal. Likewise, the selling clubs.

It's simply not conceivable, in the modern world, that a transfer of a top player from a top league will be conducted, in its entirety, in complete secrecy.

No, you're right. But what's galling is that players seem to let them run riot, even when a deal is obviously not the right move for them. They seem to have this control over players which is inexplicable.

Sounds really stupid but the mention of a private jet almost puts doubt in my mind over the Italian journos info. Levy flew Soldado by Ryanair. We've heard several others they were flown on normal airlines too. I don't buy we will have laid on a private jet unless Lamela himself or Roma have?

Soldado flew Ryanair after the deal was done and dusted didn't he? Presumably because it was the quickest flight from Valencia to London. We are still wining and dining Lamela.

No shit. I could've told you that really, even if there was a deal in place for Bale. Is it really that hard for me to get a job as a football journo? SERIOUSLY?

I remember reading about a group of mates who madeup a "signing" called 606 and got it in the papers

Mm, wonder when we'll hear something... I don't like not knowing roughly whats going on but I guess that lessens the risk of us messing it up.

Tancredi tweeted this about a minute ago:

"Tottenham and Roma have reached the agreement for Lamela: 30m € +5m € add-ons"

Still won't believe it until it's on spursofficial!
