He didn’t actually touch it I think but he certainly occupied the two defenders leaving some space behind.

Also a excellent knock down for Son

Some of his lay offs and hold up play have been absolutely top class and he always draws defenders to him. If we could put crosses into the right areas there are very few other players I'd rather have in the middle than FL. I don't think we've used him well at all but he never gripes and I'd be more than happy if he stayed and we did a bit more to accomodate his style of play.

He was described as our 'break glass in case of emergency' player in one of the match reports I read yesterday. Nice turn of phrase.

He gives us a plan B in terms of how we play when our Plan A fails to break down defence.

Allows us the option to cross high balls into the box

Our problem is our team is too condition to play plan A and we do not play to maje use of his strength...VJ suffered similarly in a way because of this

Glad Llorente is getting some recognition. He's been very useful off the bench of late and I personally really like the way him and Kane link up when they play up front together.

He's taken a lot of crap from our fanbase but he's had a superb career and derserves more respect IMO.

The Burnley game is the exact sort of game I wish we would use Llorente from the beginning. Ahead of the game, we all knew we were going to see a ton of the ball (ended up with 70% possession) and face a deep, set defense. Burnley played 3 big CBs who rendered Kane fairly ineffective for most of the game. We also lumped in 26 crosses, which was pretty ineffective. Llorente's height and strength could've offered more of an option for those hopeful crosses, and if nothing else, he could've occupied a couple CBs to free up some space for Kane. Llorente's major weakness (mobility) isn't as big an issue against a team sitting deep like Burnley since we're not asking him to sprint all over the place pressing and springing counter attacks.

what are the chances of him leaving him Jan?
seemed to of found his use in the team as a late plan b when we are desperate for a goal, not sure if he is happy to play such a limited role, but personally still would keep him round for that purpose, and he also seems like a good guy in the dressing room with a lot of experience.

Would be really silly to get rid - he offers us a plan B or even C that we dont have... we can basically hoof it to him for example against Inter and Burnley...

12m is a good price though

Depends on who we get to come in and replace him. If we can find a young home grown player who is good in the air and cheaper then makes sense to let him go.

Don’t think we need to replace him.

Son and Moura have both covered up top better than Llorente has for us.

Bit of a risk letting him go as our plan B would be Son pushing more central, although he's away in January.

But if we don't have someone else lined up to replace him, or are using his sale to free up a squad place for either a foreign midfielder and/or to allow Foyth to be added to the CL squad, and are simply selling to reduce the wage bill then it's a mistake.

Llorente offers the ability to play the ball into the box at height, son and moura can't really offer the same threat. Now I agree they can cover up top better, they don't offer an option B.

He has played about 157 minutes for us this year with only 23 in the league. If we have him on the bench a lot then swapping him for a home grown option that offers the same plan B should be an option.

I don’t question Llorente’s attributes. But someone not playing doesn’t really need replacing.

We will just be buying another striker to never play.

But freeing up a non home grown spot for a home grown player. He has played 97 minutes in the cup, so he does get time when we need to rest players.
