Well I feel old now.
Yeah Bale's ascendance is about as remarkable as any player I can remember, Spurs or otherwise.Congratulations to Bale. Was an outstanding player at his prime. His ability to single handledly change a game from anyway on the pitch, in the dying minutes of the game, was remarkable. The year we first qualified for the Champions League, where he started to realize he could do almost anything, was a joy to behold. And was quite literally unstoppable in that final season for us. What happened next in his career was he won a record amount of trophies for a British player, earned enough for many generations of his family, but never quite got the respect he deserved. Part of that was the context in which he was dropped - Ronaldo’s narcissism and unwillingness to bring him into the fold. Part his own fault - “Wales, golf, Madrid”, and the general sense that he never settled in Madrid. But a highly successful career regardless with many important goals at Madrid. Still, you’re left with a sense of what could have been.
When he returned to us, once he got used again to the pace of the Premier League, I thought he was outstanding. He was excellent at dispatching mid-table and lower table opposition with his excellent shooting, timing of runs and instinct in the box. It really was a shame Mourinho did not use him enough.
he’ll forever be a Spurs legend for me.

The Bale we saw from 2010 to 2018 is unmatched by any other British player in my lifetime IMO. Don't think it's particularly close either.Could argue hes the greatest British player of our era.
He’s the best by far but perhaps not the greatest , if only due to injury. However at his peak there was no one better aside from Messi and Ronaldo.Could argue hes the greatest British player of our era.
But is he signing next summer?
I also became a Wales fan because of him!What a player...and what a career.
As a Welsh Spurs fan I was priviliged to witness this legend numerous times playing for our Club and my country.
The AVB season where he seemed to score a last minute winner every week.
The Swansea away game where he scored a cracker (when I was sitting in the home fans area ?).
France 2016. Being in Lille when we beat Belgium.
Diolch Gareth ?
