You also have to remember agents get a cut of every signing on bonus aswell.
There's plenty of reason to have players moving every couple of years if they could engineer it. Like ive said Bale is as much to blame as anyone else for the situation he finds himself in, and if he'd have played for chelsea instead of us no one on here would give a shit.
Yeah very true, and would certainly offset potential future contract drop.

The main frustration for me (and yes of course an element of it having been the fact he played for us), is the feeling it’s a real waste not getting to see such a talented player who should really be in his prime, playing week in week out. A real shame to hear that he’s been a key factor in that!

Have to take the spurs tinted glasses off though, when you look at form/fitness etc for the last few years, and the costs involved (not that it’s remotely possible anyway) - I’m definitely against the idea of him coming back, like you say, no one would give a s*** if he’d played for another club and we were moving in.

Trix do you think there’s any remote market for a more ethical agency in some capacity? I saw an interesting proposition recently of an agency looking to build almost a ‘reinvest For profit’ as opposed to NFP, who were committed to grass roots investment, so would still drive strong commercial deals, but the profit would be diverted in to grass roots. It was concept, not running, but an interesting idea...
It's difficult because most professional players need representation of some discription, and the money involved at the top compared to the bottom varies so much. Don't forget for the top players it's not just about wages and transfer fees. They look after so much stuff for them you wouldn't believe. As Barnet says there he doesn't do it personally but he has a ton of people that work for him that do.

Yeah absolutely- I think the concept was still to operate a full service agency, but with a more ethically driven outcome from the revenues. I can only imagine the amount of stuff they must get involved in, particularly with the high profile players... doubt Bale buys his own Alice bands! ?

I like the idea... I can’t see it getting off the ground!

Mourinho starts learning welsh

Gareth can't really speak welsh. He's South Wales, where they're all mouth and no action ;)

I'm English but had schooling in the northern part where I got a GCSE in it. The amount of Welsh people that can't speak it is surprising, but because the accent is a lot thicker in South Wales, people tend to think it means they aren't first language English - but they are.

(that's not to say that there aren't south walians that speak welsh, but more so that the accent tends to make people mistakenly believe that they all do - in my experience, now living not too far from that end, there are very few about that do)

cheeky fucker :ROFLMAO: maybe it's preferable to the north where they still make fire with sticks and have more sex with relatives than the whole of norfolk. you're right about the language though, no-one down south speaks it or wants to speak it.

I'll definitely agree with the inbred when it comes to Bala and Corwen. We've anglicised the natives in other areas, so they are under strict instructions to only have sex with people not named Jones, Hughes and Davies. They know better than to call the livestock things like that.

I can’t see how talking or insulting the Welsh or their language is needed when discussing Bale’s possible return.Ron Burgess, Terry Medwin, Cliff Jones, Terry Yorath, Mike England ...all great Welsh players who have worn the cockerel on their chest with pride.

I think what you're missing is someone from North Wales who speaks welsh talking to someone from South Wales who does, agreeing that South Walians don't, in relation to the concept that Gareth, a Welsh ex-spurs, does.

Absolutely nothing to do with whatever you're on about

It’s more the south eastern welsh that don’t speak it. It’s because there were so many English immigrants in the industrial revelation. I’m in south west wales and most people speak it around here. I don’t speak much but that’s because I’m a saesneg incomer.

As someone who has an agent (not sport) I can say with some degree of certainty that the agent has little to no say in their client’s decision. If they push too hard they just lose the client... I’ve changed agencies in the past for this reason.

If GB wanted to rip up the contract and leave, Barnet can do nothing but complain (he’ll lose his commission on the remainder of the contract, but tough shit).

But if he stepped too far out of line (GB is the employer, Barnet the employee remember) and GB then fires him, Barnet will lose out on the commission from his next contract (unless there was some third party ownership... which I don’t believe is the case).

In essence the agent’s job is to act as negotiator/gatekeeper/villain. You can ‘blame the agent’ is actually a selling point to signing with one!

In my industry you are effectively freelancing for 3 months at a time and then moving onto the next gig, so the agent is at his/her most valuable during negotiation by ensuring I don’t annoy/alienate somebody I could be working with again at some point further down the line... Use the agent as the go-between and confrontation is avoided.

My point is; everything Gareth does and chooses to do in the future is down to Gareth and Gareth alone...
The ‘blame Barnet’ narrative is a large part of what GB pays him for.

FWIW I’d be doing cartwheels if he came home, but I’m a sentimental sap!

Whether a Welshman can speak Welsh or not is well....trivial

I'd say you're being a bit precious and probably have gone in over your head here. I even explained that South Walians are all accent (all mouth) and by majority don't speak welsh (no action).

As we're on the subject, do you also take exception to people taking the piss out of 'Northerners' (in context to England) in here too, or have you just decided to see something that wasn't there on this subject?

If bale really wants to leave Madrid and hasn’t found a way after all this time, surely his agent hasn’t done his job properly. Why doesn’t he try a new agent who might find a way.

I hear Jorge Mendes is decent ?

To be honest your explanation is not exactly very clear, bit cryptic really.
