Anyway, seeing Bale and Kane standing by corner flag, arms aloft, and screaming with joy after Bale as made an exquisite outside-of-the-foot cross and Kane has volleyed it in quite literally brings tears of happiness. :)
I've been thinking about this too, Kane, Bale and Sonny all celebrating together, the best attacking lineup we've had in how many years (maybe ever?)

When did we last sign a player with anywhere near the profile of Bale? Was it Klinsmann, or even further back?

I suppose after Alex Morgan for the women’s side, Levy had to do something of similar magnitude for the men’s side. I just didnt think it would only take him a few days to not only equal it but eclipse it. We’re now on day 3 of Bale back to Spurs being the talk of the football world.

Could he wear 29, bit like Defoe with 18 cos he couldn't get the 9 shirt

In fairness, 18 has been far better for our strikers than 8. Klinsnann, Defoe, Kane all successes with it. Even bloody Iversen wasn’t totally useless.

You could be right

1+8=9
2+9=11

I'm sure there was someone in Italy who had the + on their shirt...
Zamorana. He was number 9, but Baggio signed and took the number 10, so Ronaldo demanded the 9, and so Zamorano took 1+8.

They also had Recoba as the best paid player on earth at that time, and Vieri wearing 32 because he cost £32m. We can’t even get Troy Deeney in!

I’m sooooo looking forward to be able to resurrect “you’ve got bale” text to my mates as Bale rescues us with a 40 yd screamer in the 95th minute ?

I’m easily pleased.

Klinsmann did and in a time when it was pretty alien for any World Class foreign player to play in England.

Jurgen was a much bigger transfer in my opinion.

I’ll never forget hearing that for the first time on the radio while driving through Dagenham
