has there ever been any official confirmation that he was ill or was it just reporters stating this?
Gareth Bale remains a doubt for our showdown against Liverpool in the Premier League at Anfield on Wednesday night (8pm).
The winger missed Sunday’s draw at Palace through illness and Jose Mourinho was certainly leaning towards him being unavailable for the Merseyside clash.
“Gareth is still struggling a little,” reported Jose. “Yesterday, he didn’t train with the team, he trained inside, not even outside. At this moment, I would say ‘no’, but let’s see the training session at three o’clock.”

So let's hope he's shaken it off properly by Sunday.

Do wonder just how much more Bale has left in the tank. Come back to a league which is much more faster and physical than the one he has come from and had his fair share of injuries. No doubt he still possesses the ability to pull of moments of magic in and around the area but just question whether the other side of his game is there especially for a Mourinho team. In his outings so far, seems to be playing with the handbrake on somewhat when it comes to running. Don't know if its a physical or mental issue or maybe a combination of both.

At the moment, just feels like he is a top quality option off the bench that could turn a point into 3 like he did against Brighton or nick us a draw if we are losing rather someone who is going to turn out regularly and do the business. Maybe plan is to use him more in the cups to try and help us get over the line when it comes to winning a pot, who knows.

Although still plenty of games to go, there's just over 5 months of the season left so at a stage where do feel he needs to get into some sort of rhythm now to give himself a chance to get going.

Would give him a go in a few of our next games against "easier opposition". We don't need a defensive winger against the likes of Fulham, Stoke or even Leeds and frankly it's not like anyone else is stepping up in that RW position.

No point signing someone with his ability to not even let him have a little run in the team - if he's still pretty shit after that then we can re-evaluate and start looking at other options.

Would still have him over Lucas, for instance, and Lamela looks to be injured indefinitely once again so rotating Bale with Bergwijn over the Xmas period should be a no-brainer for me.

We’ve just got 1 point from our last 2 games and there’s no Europa league for a month or 2 so he’ll get some chances in the next week or so for sure.

The money probably would have been better spent on the Hungarian fella at Salzburg. I think he’d be a key player for us immediately.

Bale is great commercially, but hasn’t really contributed all that much so far on the pitch. I was naturally excited when we got him and I hope he really comes good again for us, but judged on how it has gone so far you’d be seriously considering not renewing at this point.

We more than likely never had a chance to sign that Hungarian fella, who btw does not strike me at all as a hard working defensive first Jose player. But anyway, had written Leipzig over him as soon as he startetd to look the deal.

Just seems always on the outskirts of the game. I have noticed today our players don't seem to want to pass to him, maybe they don't trust him? Whematever the case he is a total passenger at the moment. I can't beleive a top player can deteriorate this much. He's only 31. He looks finished on today's run, sorry, walk out.

Not a game to judge him on to be honest when the team setup and dynamic was as poor as it was today. Don't get me wrong I'm yet to be convinced by him, but not gonna get on his back after this specific game.

I mean Son's on fire and he looked shit today as well.

its a touch concerning, if I'm being honest now, he is the sort of player that can spark the team into life take the game by the scruff of the neck today would have been a great opportunity for him to lay a marker down, but also think it can still click
