I'm not really sure why Lloris seems to have taken a bit of a hammering from the fans yesterday. He was literally hung out to dry by the fucking 10 players in front of him.
I think that's an exceedingly generous review of his performance.

Can we please stop putting the boot into Hugo?

Yes, age has caught up with him and he’s no longer able to perform like he once did, but I’m willing to bet he feels just as bad, if not worse, about it than any of us do.

Respectfully, please just shut the fuck up.

I'm not praising him or being generous with his performance. Which keeper would have done better from that team performance yesterday?

In the same way it was possible to apportion the blame between the owners, the manager and the players, it is entirely possible to state that Lloris has been a great servant but is now not the player he was. It's also worth, in hindsight, considering that one of the consistencies in our semi-final/final non-events is that our captain was Hugo Lloris.

That doesn't mean we undermine any of his absolutely imperative moments in a Spurs shirt (penalty saves, amazing saves etc.) nor does it mean we ignore his absolute brain-disappearances in big games.

Maybe, in fact, he sums up Tottenham more than we even realise.

I'm sad that it's come to this, but I don't think I want him to play again for us.

Absolutely we should acknowledge his time as a top goalkeeper has ended, and it is legitimate to question his impact or lack thereof in various finals and semi-finals.

But back in the day, players like Lloris, important first-teamers who spent nearly the entirety of their career at the club, were hailed as "legends" (if they were relatively successful here) or "Tottenham through and through", etc. They were given testimonials and celebrated as being a part of the club's fabric. They were applauded for their loyalty. They were treated like family.

They weren't abused by "fans" on the way out, accused of "consistently letting us down", and told their achievements amount to nothing.

Agree on abuse and the achievements part - however there's definitely a conversation to be had around the weird moments in bigger matches (including the World Cup Final!!) that he has had throughout his time with us, and for me that's unlike any other keeper in the Top 6.

Lloris deserves our respect, but asking that is being very generous. Almost all professional goalkeepers at this level would have done better.

Lloris is past his best but with a different goalie it probably would have been 5-1 rather than 6-1, so honestly, why is he getting discussed so much? He was way down the list of issues we had yesterday.

Our two 'center backs', the 'left back', 'right back', 'defensive midfielder' and 'manager' were all much bigger problems.

What's happening here, mate? I don't think I've ever engaged in a conversation with you before my post, and I most definitely haven't addressed this subject. I simply answered what you were writing in your post, since I think you contradicted yourself with your question.

Not sure why you are trying to stir something up out of me discussing what you asked?

Why should anyone not hammer him for yesterday? I don't care who you are, no one has enough credit in the bank to refuse to play for the club paying them a fortune when asked. What's worse is that he's supposed to be our captain(hopefully stripped of that now) and setting an example. I don't care of he's been hung out to dry by those in front of him, let's be honest he's repaid that tenfold this season and no one has downed tools on him. Genuinely if it were down to me he'd have played his last game for us. Fuck all this sentimental bullshit, he's let us down very badly at a time when you need your leaders to step up and take charge.

Injury??? Smh.

I thought they were just rumours that he refused to play 2nd half and that he was injured? Have you heard something about that?

If he called out the shit management choices and absolute clusterfuck in front of him then I'm fully in his corner and if that meant that he got in a ruck and for whatever reason didn't come out for the second half then more power to him.

He's never seemed like the kind of guy to dodge a fight, I imagine he just got in an argument with Stellini because he couldn't manage his way out of a paper bag and was told not to come out.

He's one of the few players that seems to actually care/hurt when we play poorly - the rest of them just give a cursory clap at the end of the match swap some shirts and move on with their lives.

You didn't need the last sentence because it detracts from any actual sense you made in the previous two.

He has gone off a cliff in the last 12 months. His keeping is woeful now, age has caught him up. Isak's two goals were both weak as piss goalkeeping.

Big Frase all day long now.

Sorry, my original point was, you said "the 10 people in front of him hung him out to dry", I'd argue (easily) that he owns a good chunk of that and should be included with those 10. He did not cover himself in glory in at least 3 of the goals.
