Just cut her off when she's about to make a speech "sorry your majesty but we have an important announcement make, Spurs have confirmed the signing of Perisic"

Was interesting listening to Goldstein and Bent on talksport this afternoon, they mentioned how Spurs signing Perisic was a change of direction from Levy and with the addition of the 150mil investment Goldstein said something along the lines of "its levy saying, let go and try and win the league" as its clear Conte is going to be backed. Got a bit excited not gonna lie lol

What I'm excited about is that Perisic still has a lot to prove.

He said in 2018, funnily enough before our CL game at Wembley, "I have always said that [playing in the Premier League] is my dream. In football everything is possible, we will see in the future. Now, I'm focusing on Inter.” He has wanted to play in the prem for a long time and he's basically got his dream at the very end of his career.

But it's not like some of the players we've signed recently who are young and might think they've made it because they've got a move to the PL and their level can drop. Perisic has played at the elite level for some of the biggest clubs in the world, he's got over 100 caps for his country, simply appearing in the PL isn't going to be enough for him. I'm certain he is going to play with hunger and desire, with a willingness to prove to everyone how good he is. Especially considering some of the discourse that surrounded his potential move to United, people said he was finished and way too old to be joining United, now he's 33 and has the chance to prove all the doubters wrong.

"In football, you never say never. From the beginning of my career, I've had the ambition to play in as many big leagues as possible, and I still have that desire to test myself in other leagues. And I mean in the Spanish or English leagues.

"I hope Inter fans understand my point of view. I'm an athlete and a professional, I like challenges and this is my driving force. What the future will bring, I don't know. Now I'm focused on Inter as we try to make a bigger step forward from last season."
(2018)

I can see a big big season coming from Perisic, I'm very excited

I think this could be one of those deals that surprises people next season.

Obviously Perisic is a well known top player but the reaction I've got from my non-Spurs mates were the usual defensive "he's 33 mate", "past his best" etc. I don't think many people have any idea how good he's been for Inter for the past 18 months and are massively underestimating him as a result.

Got a sneaking suspicion this could be our signing of the season and actually be a lot more important than any of the more expensive signings we make (in the short term, at least).

Ill be honest, im a tad apprehensive at his age, then again in the context of having Sessegnon for longevity, its not a massive issue.

In terms of quality, ive not seen too much of Perisic but based on what I have seen of him in games as well as on youtube etc he has the skill set we are lacking somewhat. I do want a right wing back though, but that is for Conte to decide not me.

Being 33 myself it's quite upsetting seeing everyone say he's past it, I don't consider myself past it!

Reckon he will be fantastic for us.

Shit, just remembered I'm 34. :cautious:

Need to just stick my fingers in my ears and pretend that all footballers are still older than me (especially ones that look like Perisic).

I heard it too. I honestly believe that Conte is going for the Premier League title from the get go. He has signed for only one year yet, he is still getting in these quality players and as a winner, no 5 year plan and all that malarkey. His objective is to bring the title to N17 next season!
