I thought he still looked a bit behind the rest of the squad in terms of sharpness, but he was still quality.

There was something else that Perisic tried, it did not come off, but it was still great vision - tried to play a ball from the left to the open area on the right wing. Hit it too far in front, but it was a great idea.

He is still behind the others in terms of training and minutes on the pitch. He still played well and showed bits of what he can do!

I think the biggest thing for me was seeing him telling other players where to be and even sorting out who stayed back for a corner at one point. True leader on the pitch.

Yeah, even the little apology to Bryan when he misread his run before he crossed. Little things, sure. But he’s going to be a good influence for everyone.

He was giving lots of encouragement and instruction to Davinson as soon as he came on as well. Was also mentioned on comms on spursplay that he’d been passing on knowledge to Sessegnon since he’d arrived on how to be more effective in the final 3rd. Think he’s going to bring so much more than his quality on the pitch. Invaluable signing.

That ball to richarlison....

I mean the only way that happens last season is if Kane gets on the wing and puts in a cross for Kane.

We now have a player who can cross the ball and a player who can head the ball (who is not Kane)

Progress

I actually loved his encouragement, first pass to him went out for a throw in, and he just clapped the player and signalled it was the right idea. Great mentality.

The question is who starts, because Ryan is looking good as well.

I like Perisic a lot, but that kind of ball is done by many players, mate, not just Perisic. Dier, Romero, Toby all do that on a regular basis ?

Perisic starts and he does so comfortably. Sess will benefit massively from working with him though.

Not from where Perisic was on the pitch…

And it was the vision to see the space while in the attacking end, not sitting back as a defender.

Fucks sake, the bar is low if a switch of play (that you see 30x per match) which was miles away from coming off warrants a post like this. :ROFLMAO:

genuinely great competition for places here. Perisic is obvious quality but Sess has been fantastic for the last 4 months or so and has had a very good pre-season too IMO, and looks as fit as he ever has.

a good problem for conte to have

I think he meant when has one of our WBs ever switched play like that. Certainly not seen Sess or Reggy hit one.
