If he is now seem as a RB at the moment (I think as his career progresses he'll shift back to his natural CB position) then I hope he's getting the coaching. Going forward he can still be clumsy at times but defensively... Wow

Got a good cross in him as well. Offensively, he shows no hestitation and thats a good sign.

I tired of RB getting in good positions only to do a drag back and pass backwards or sideways.

Overall, This lad has lots of football common sense. Throw ins are always short, make hardfouls when needed, and always looking to pass foward

Interesting - unusually detailed and frank. You see the rumours in the press but you never quite know what sits underneath it, but that's the horses mouth!

Thanks for sharing
yeah it felt like a transfer report you would read on a website, but was actually told from someone who is involved

wish there was more like this

Let's talk Tanganga.

Nice to see him getting regular starts. Solid defensively, beyond his years. I can't help thinking he isn't a right back though. I've always thought of him more as a central defender, or right of a three. Thoughts?

I’d like to see him given more chances in the middle to be honest.

he doesnt use the ball well enough to be a marauding modern fullback. But would fit perfectly as a lopsided fullback in a pep system.

I think he’s just a defensive right back, I’ve been more impressed by his performances at fullback that what he’s shown at CB.

I thought he was poor today and against Wolves. I think he could be decent in a back three, but I don't think he's good enough at RB unless we just park the bus.

Japh has been solid in our reactive games and is really tidy defending, but he is so poor going forward. If he is to be our main RB i really hope his ofensive game will be focused during trainings. Considering that doherty is a donkey and cant do shit, Emerson would be a great signing for games like today where we will be proposing the game

I agree with you, when he first broke into the team I remember being super impressed with him v Liverpool at centre back, was positionally very aware.

I do wonder if we look to sign Emerson, that we move Japhet back to centre back and have Emerson/Doherty for RB, and Aurier out the door

Definitely not his best game today. He is a great 1 v 1 defender but today was the first game this season where he didn't need to do that so there was extra focus on his more offensive attributes which are the weakest part of his game.

Great for when we're up against attacking teams who use width but may not be the best choice in games where we dominate as it renders him fairly blunt

Willingness is generally there to get forward but to date the quality is seriously underwhelming. The RH side was open most of the game against Watford and we made little out of it despite some good possession and balls played in by PEH.

Bad day at the office. Poor from the get go with misplaced passes and getting turned too easily.
I'm a fan but yeah, poor today.

Defensively at RB i think he's fine. But he definitely lacks the instincts to be an attacking RB.

He got forward today a few times, but more as an after thought and because he knew he'd probably been told to, rather than instinctively seeing the space and the chance to overload/overlap and get in behind the oppo defense to cross or play cut backs.

Was great against City and on his debut against Liverpool because all he had to do was defend. Against the likes of Watford et al, I think a more natural attacking FB would serve us better.

It's clear that he provides so much defensive solidity so he is well worth his place in the 11. He's fantastic in those defensive actions.

However it's clear that when it comes to those attacks that he passing to him is a bit of a graveyard for promising moves.

So I think the solution is fairly straight forward should he remain in the starting 11, you either play him as an rcb in a back 3 with a RWB next to him or you play a right winger who will take up the attacking positions that Japhet did today. I think that's where Traore is such an appealing signing because you could see how he would fit there perfectly. Son when he's on that right side comes inside meaning that Tanganga is tasked with getting forward in that position but with Traore there he would sit back. Then you can move Son back to the left.

I also do think that Tomiyasu has a bit more about him in the passing department. We'll see. I just hope we don't sign an athletic fullback who is good going forward but lacks the defensive ability of Japhet. I think there's better solutions there.
