His ability on the ball is decent enough but Wolves away he gave away 2 stupid penalties, should have given one away against Chelsea, always looks reckless and then again today. The odd Cruyff turn doesn't make up for it unfortunately.

If his defence is he isn't experienced enough not to overrun the ball and lunge in, then after 2 years of training with the team he needs to have a word with himself. He's young but he's not 7. Any pro of any age would know that's stupid.

send him on loan next season and let him get 'experience' somewhere else.

I didn’t actually see the 2nd half of the game or his tackle but it sounded stupid reckless and dangerous (all the hallmarks of a YOUNG player).

I get why people write certain players off but right now there is no way I’m writing off a 20 year old CB who has moved to a new country at a very young age, has learnt a new language, is playing in a new league, is playing for his national team, has had a number of decent performances for us this season in his first full season with us, yes he’s now made mistakes in a good few games but he’s also showed an awful lot of quality for someone of that age.

20 is so so young for a CB and he has more than enough promise to go very far with us.

These players are older but just remember how everyone wrote off and/or are currently writing off: Sissoko, Lamela and Trippier only for them to all prove you wrong at times, in sissoko a case he took 3 years to properly find his feet and show his true best form and that was a guy who when we signed him was what 26,not 20! Who was already a very experienced PL player with a few hundred appearances under their belt, who speaks English who knows some of our squad players etc etc, compare than to Foyth and I think you’ll see my point that Foyth still has a HUGE chance to real a level of consistent top performances but we need to keep believing in him.

Perhaps but they may have cost us in other ways across the season and Son also got sent off today not just Foyth. At the end of the day it’s a team and squad game and it won’t be solely down to Foyth if we finish on 70,71,73 points and if they places us 3rd,4th,5th,6th etc there are many mitigating factors involved.

He’s still young and has time to learn and improve. His defensive colleagues and coaches must also play a part in his footballing education.

There have been more senior players in the squad that have also done screwups in the past and been sent off.

We can’t go on asking any player that is sent off , to be sold.

What about players who make huge errors of judgement every time they play which almost always lead to a bad result, who then get sent off two minutes after coming on in a must win match where we are already a man down?

The amount of mistakes this kid has made in very few games is spectacular.

Normally you are balanced and measured. Not in this thread.

The boy has unreal talent on the ball. That is not something you find on every street corner - particularly in a CB.

Has he made mistakes ? Yeh sure he has.

Has he played superbly in the PL? Yeh sure he has.

Is it easier to teach a player to be as talented on the ball as Foyth is or is it easier to eliminate the rash elements ?

He needs time and composure but he has a very rare set of gifts that we should harnass. He is not Aurier. Let’s give the kid a chance.

Come on he’s good on the ball but this is way OTT

He’s no Carrick, Xavi or Modric who are unreal on the ball.
Fucking hell he is 21 and for his age has shown plenty of talent on the ball for a 21 year old defender - comparing him to two great midfilders of this generation and Carrick is such a hot take.

Give me strength.

Mate, you're on a hiding to nothing, the experts on here have made their minds up. We better go and get Rondon before all is lost.

He’s ok on the ball for a CB, but if he doesn’t cut out the reckless challenges, he’ll get burnt at this level. His physique worries me too, especially for the PL

In my next sentence I say « particularly for a CB ». He doesn’t need to reach their level to have elite abilities on the ball for a CB.

Also you’re comparing 21 year old Foyth with peak level Xavi and Modric?
What was Carrick like two years before he moved to us when he was still at West Ham?
What was Modric like two years before he moved to us and had barely featured for Dinamo Zagreb?
Have a word with yourself and give the boy time. The same time that was afforded some of the best players you could think of on a Sunday morning. Joker

Of course he needs to cut out the rash challenges. I said that. It will come with maturity.

Does Laporte’s physique worry you or is that an easy trope?

He’s specifically said he’s a unreal talent on the ball his words not mine ??

Where in fact he’s good on the ball like maguire at most.

Okay player atm which he will probably become a good one in the future

It clearly states for a central defender - reading comprehension is your friend.
