He was passing it to the side of Lloris's stronger left foot, but him rushing to the ball at exactly the wrong moment (possibly with no call either) just resulted in an utter catastrophe.

All he had to do was get his body between the ball and the player and let Lloris come out and deal with it - like Hugo had started to do.

Tripps is just a liability defensively, not clued in enough, no recover pace, poor positioning and a lack of defensive shape, he's always in the wrong place at the wrong time.

He didn’t even look up to see where Lloris were was, amateur mistake

It was bad, really bad, by both of them.

Trippier is asking for Lloris to come for it, I have no idea why when it's there for him to play. Judging by the roll of the ball, where it is outside the area, and where the Chelsea player is, don't think this option is really on.

Lloris eventually decides he will come for it, at this point he's going to be charging out rather desperately to play it first, the best option still seems for him to hang back and Trippier to knock it back to him.

Trippier realises he has to play it, and plays a blind pass. Anywhere else on the pitch you criticise a man for doing that, so ultimately it's on him. Players have to have awareness of the game around them, he didn't.

There's no communication, leadership, bollocks to take charge of the situation from either of them though.

Right to the top of the list for embarrassing goals conceded by Spurs though (and there have been many), I haven't seen one like that since I played kids football.

He obviously didn't know Lloris was coming out, and wasn't sure if the ball was going to make the box

Running back towards you're own goal when you think someone is close behind you is the worst feeling as a full-back when you have no communication. Lloris should have been shouting at him, but Trippier should have hooked it away and gave Lloris a bollocking afterwards. Hindsight is never wrong though.

he was always meant to be second choice to Walker when we bought him, and to Aurier after we sold Walker. I dont want to hate on the guy because he's done a job for us in the past but we need somebody better,

Honestly, throughout all of Sissoko’s troubles, I never once loathed him as a person. Trippier however...his arrogance absolutely fucking riles me. He obviously thinks he’s prime Dani Alves. If he wasn’t such an arrogant prick, I’d probably feel a bit sorry for him.

That's bs. If he passed it wide of the goal Willian would have got it and scored himself

Lloris just had to stay on his line

No it's not.
It's a basic rule not to pass the ball in direction of the goal. Because if something fails, at least is not an own goal. Sorry but your argument that Willian would got it is ridiculous. Another basic rule it to look at the player you are going to pass the ball. It's not Lloris that has to be where Trippier passes the ball but Trippier has to pass the ball where Lloris is.

Trippier did everything wrong

Should you not all be in the Toby thread tearing into him for the 1st (and most crucial) goal or the Eriksen thread?

I'm starting to actually feel that I do not want to see him in the XI ever again. He's having a nightmare this season. Absolute shambolic performances. Fuck me.

Does people still think he offers more than Walker??? Morons.

It’s a shame Mr. Know-It-All.. Bus Conductor is no longer with us.

The shit he used to spout about how great Trips was compared to Walker. Usually based around some obscure statistical analysis rather than watching a game of football.

Absolute wally.

There have been at least 3 matches where I had those same thoughts. And, yet, here we are.

If you don't know what's going on with the keeper kick it out, clear it somehow. Don't make a blind pass in direction to the goal

Both at fault, lloris looks like he’s whispering into his bit on the sides ear.... shout ffs. You are the captain. Shout it’s yours!! Tripps had plenty of time to take another look up before he passed it back. One needs benching and one needs moving on. The one who was nearly crying.

Easier to scapegoat with an own goal tbh.

Was he our worst performer this evening?
