Whats gonna happen to Yedlin.
I really hope we don't ruin the kid.
Davies was poor the season prior to joining us and I was very vocal about not wanting to sign him, due to his lack of pace, reluctance to get forward and being the most skinned player in the PL. I have a few worries about Trippier but I'm confident he will be a much better signing than Davies and the fact that he is constantly improving, gives me hope that he will eventually fix any issues his game has.I do worry that his lack of pace will moot his ability to get forward effectively in the system we play. Davies looked like a player up until he joined us, and I fear Trippier will be another to suffer from poch's system. Its so essential that both fullbacks get up and down the flanks and provide width. That being said, I'll reserve any real judgment, I may be pleasantly surprised and bringing him in at such a low fee offers extremely low risk.
His contract ended last season and if they hadn't agreed to the low release clause (which only came into effect because they were relegated) then he would have walked on a free last year. There may have been a release clause, you have to ask yourself why it's so low. It's not in the nature of any business to value the assets below their value, and he signed a new contract a year ago.
As I said , I don't know the player and at £3.5m I don't expect much, but then again I never do, too many players have signed and been a disappointment.
There's been so much disagreement on here about Yedlin ("why isn't he playing?" vs "he's not ready!" etc) but I think sending him on loan to Norwich is such an obvious win/win for us, provided he gets ample game time.Going on loan to newly promoted Norwich. Will probably get alot of game time and develop well. After that we'll see how Walker's fitness is and assess whether to keep Walker/Trippier or keep Trippier/Yedlin.
The key thing for me is that he plays the ball early and takes a very good corner.

He also put in more crosses than anyone else in Europe’s top five leagues and made the most interceptions in the Premier League…
I like this signing a lot. I think Trippier can add a very good dynamic to our team and our attack with his crossing ability.
I think With him and Rose we can have a similar attacking dynamic to what we've seen at Everton with Coleman and Baines, except the sides reversed as Rose is more like Coleman and Trippier more like Baines. Like Baines Trippier isn't known for his pace, but is still incredibly deadly with the ball at his feet and he's a decent defender.
Looked very good last night, hopefully that continues. Not as explosive as Walker, but quick enough and composed, with quality delivery. I think we may have got a bargain for £3.5m.
