@y1dk1d It was a joke - based on our history of anouncing signings a ridiculously long time after the player has actually joined up with the rest of the lads.

Appreciate the 'wtf?' by the way - I'm close to finishing my Panini 'Ratings 2015' album and I needed that one to complete the "Totally Missed the Point" section.

Wow, calm down. I am just bored of reading comments like that and it's pretty clear he's an imminent signing so let's just be positive for once.

I've removed the rating so you won't need to be shedding anymore tears

I appreciate that - my wife was getting annoyed by me sobbing into my pillow because you were mean to me on the Internet.... *rolls eyes*

Here's the thing - I'm okay with it. I dont like every poster on here, and I sure as shit dont expect, or even want, to be liked by everyone,

But -

If you use a rating to express your dislike of something I post, and I think it's unreasonable, childish or whatever, then you have to expect an ascerbic response. It is part of the fun after all, wouldn't you agree?

Oh, and for the record - my dig was at the club's shoddy communications department, not the player, who I think is an excellent signing, and one I feel very positive about.

Yes I do agree, particularly when it's someone who's been a member for 10 years and has no posts. I know what you said wasn't offensive or anything and I do have my problems with THFC, but it is frustrating how when we're on the verge of a signing people will focus on a negative thing

Just speaking to a work colleague who is a Burnley supporter and he said that their fans are far more disappointed to see Trippier leave than Ings. Said that he will get up and down the pitch all game and whips in a fantastic cross. Also said he is quick and can defend as well. Overall said we are getting a bargain and will be a very good buy.

Yeah I know another fan who mirrored the same opinions. He believes that Trippier will be a bigger miss.

From what I've read and heard I have no doubt that Trippier will be our first choice right back by the end of the season.

By the sounds of it, it seems as if he'll be first choice right off the bat, and it'll be up to Walker to fight for his place back. It also remains to be seen who else will still be at the club at that point (between Fredericks and Yedlin), so Walker could have quite the battle ahead.

This is good. Walker has had little to no competition to push on from his YPotY season, so it's good it's finally arrived with aplomb. He has the athleticism, so if he can get his fitness back and figure out how to defend properly, he can be an excellent defender.

As long as walker is fit I don't see why Trippier would be first choice straight away. People assumed Davies would be first choice (understandably as he cost a lot more) and wrote rose off (again, understandable due to rose's poor form the previous season) but he hasn't even got a sniff.

To my knowledge, this is Trippiers first season in the prem, he did well by all accounts but people (not you) are getting ahead of themselves. Walker, whatever people think of him, is an established premiership player for a top club. He's no mug. Granted he's had a bit if a shocker last season but if he can get over those injury worries I fully expect him to come back looking to smash it.

I do agree that he needs a kick up the arse and it's been far to long without any serious competition. As many have said, let's hope Trippier has the Davies effect.

I would also add that poch does seem to show some kind of loyalty to existing players. Rose, Kaboul, ade etc all played a lot at the start of the season.

Has Walker ever been able to cross though? Dier has shown us what a RB with ability to cross can achieve. With Kane in there waiting we need a RB as well as a RWF who can cross.

Trippier is a far better player. Been doing it in the championship and excelled in the prem. from what I have seen of him and how he played against us he is already first choice against walker in my eyes

There's no way that was loyalty to existing players. He was just thoroughly assessing the squad and giving every player a chance. If Poch thinks Trippier is better he won't show loyalty to Walker...
