Some of you guys make me laugh. He's been brilliant this World Cup and just had a very, very good season for us. Whats more his attitude has always been superb. We should be celebrating him! I for one am very proud to have him as a Tottenham player.

He's showing with England what an asset he can be as an attacking full-back.

The issue is, and always has been with Trips, that he is a better wing-back than a full-back. The same can probably be said of Aurier, and maybe even Rose, so I do wonder how often we'll see a back three with wing backs next season for Spurs.

Either way I'm delighted to see Trippier doing so well for England and hope he can carry that in to his Spurs performances.

Lol@probably there though for Crazy Serge.

Probably better sold IMO...Trippier is BY FAR the better player.

Edit: Also always thought we suit 3 at the back with our personnel, would like us to play variants of it more often.

Can't believe some of the shit on here, he has been decent for us for a while, even though he was playing in a system that didn't really bring out the best in him.

Tripps has proven in the WC that he is an amazing wing back , he is not really a RB although he does a job there.

This tournament will give him the confidence to be a consistant top class wing back form here on, IF Poch plays 3 at the back, Tipps will have an amazing season for us, this WC will be the making of him.

He isn't the type of lad that will seek a move , he isn't a big time charlie and we are a big club with big players, big coach and big stadium, and from what i'm hearing we are starting to pay big too.

The Walker that lost two semi finals, one of them 5-1 and got bullied by Lanzini at West Ham in a game that cost us a title chance?

Yeah, we were so much better

I see time and a transfer hasn’t softened your views on walker.
In there quicker than a tramp on chips

The confidence this lad will have when he comes back for the start of the season is gonna be huge. I think he will go up another level this coming season. So pleased for him

Sanchez is also great but isn't the same as Walker for cover and recovering on an exposed flank.

You are right about Walkers recovery, but I'd still take Tripier over him every day of the week. I have said it so many times but for all his pace and explosive running he has very little end product when going forward. Neither are brilliant from a purely defensive POV but Trips offers an awful lot more from an attacking one.

he's had a nice tournament but your paucity of passing midfielders is partly responsible. Pretty much everything is coming from the wingbacks and Young is on the other side.
Really kind of reinforces the idea that Spurs need 3 in the back to get the best out of Trippier.

Its going to be really interesting to see how this plays out early in the season.

I think that is even obvious in the WC. There have been so many times when Trippier gets the ball on the flank, but has a defender on him, and he passes the ball back to Walker, who is in a great position to put a cross in on a first-time touch, but Walker never plays that ball, he always pulls it further out, or passes back to Trippier - who is still covered by a defender.

I agree that Walker was pretty useless going forward. In his last year with us though defensively he was an absolute beast and gave us a more solid foundation than we've had without him.

Now see I still remember him making quite a few mistakes. I put our defensive solidity down to having Jan and Toby next to each other and Dier dropping in and out of the defensive line and lets be fair Wanyama was one hell of a back four shield in his first season for us.

We also played a much more intense pressing game which helped us from a defensive standpoint. Not sure Walker was all that much to do with it tbh, imo it was more so the tactics we used.
