we need Ange and Kulu to call Bardghji and Gyökeres next...:cautious:
Gyökeres is having a truly ridiculous season. What is it? 34 G/A (24g, 10a) in 27 games so far or something like that? Don't know if he's an Ange-type striker but the man has been sensational at Sporting.

I've only seen limited video clips of him but I'm getting Bellingham vibes. Haven't seen that comparison so am I wrong?

No i don’t follow the league but I have watched Djurgården specifically to watch Bergvall. The joys of having an iptv, can pretty much watch any league in the world. I read an article about wonder kids a while back and he was hotly tipped. That plus a friend of mine who’s actually Norwegian rather than Swedish but likes to follow the Scandi talents was raving about him so figured I’d make the effort to watch him. He lives in Turkey currently and was the guy who told me about Ada Guler long before he went to RM and tends to have a good eye. I mentioned Guler at the time on here. We’ve talked about doing a football podcast before but realistically it’s never going to happen. Also he’s an Utd fan 😑.

Haha cool, I salute your commitment!

I instantly thought of Berbatov when I watched a compilation, but to be honest we are probably all wrong because these videos only show a small amount. He will have his flaws as well, but certainly looks talented.

This is one of those signings that people clamour for because of his stats. His record in England is nowhere near that. In the championship he was close to a one in 3 striker and I would rather use that as a barometer.
As an example Chuba Akpom had a pretty good last season for Middlesbrough and earned a move to Ajax.
It was very much an exception and not the rule in terms of his high scoring rate that season and has done very little since.

I would be very wary of the purple patch striker, especially in a not so strong league.

I watched a fair bit of VG live last season, he was good, but not good enough for the level we need.

Honestly, no. As a Swede, I've always felt he's been an exciting player and I'm inclined to believe it has just clicked for him, rather than being a purple patch striker. It's always difficult to know how a skill set will transfer from one league to another, and I don't think he'd be a 1 in 1 striker in the Prem, but I do believe he would do very well in most, if not all, Prem clubs.
He's dominating in most metrics in one of the top teams in Portugal, only using Coventry in the championship as a barometer would be a bit narrow-minded.

Not to mention he had 31 G/A (21 goals) in 46 championship games last season which is good for the Championship. I don't know about you but to me that's closer to a 1 in 2 than a 1 in 3 striker.

We're operating so intelligently and professionally in the market now, that I actually have no doubts we'll get it right.

The strategic squad building, talent ID, and operating to schmooze players / families and close deals between Ange, Lange, and Fab is exceptional.

I'm HIGHLY critical of Levy on here but credit where it's due, he put this team together.

If he trusts them to get on with it then we could be going places.
Fair play for owning that. I thought you were a bit over-dramatic with the whole "gazumped by Brentford" thing if I'm honest, so it would have been easy to stay quiet when we did pull off a promising signing.

These wonderkid signings are easy to get caught up with, but we can't sign all of them so have to accept that we will miss out on the majority. Maybe Wharton or Nusa will turn out to be stars... maybe Bergvall turns out to be trash... there's no way to know. But our transfer/scouting team will know far more about these players than us, and importantly will know the strategy and plans B, C, D etc. And it's the strategy that is more important than any individual signing in my view.

Our player recruitment has been more hits than misses these last few years. Long may that continue!

Watching highlights I can’t decide, is he the press-resistant 6* we need?

*deep-lying ball-winning playmaker :p

Looks a great signing. From what I have seen there is something that reminds me of KDB.

Exciting times.

Haha cheers! Tbh I think it stems from a misspent youth playing FM, although I don’t play anymore the bug to find the next wonderkid never really left. I work freelance so some months I have a lot of spare time to indulge in watching too much football.

Yeah, seriously insane numbers he’s putting up. I’ve read that they will be looking for 100 mil for him if they were to sell him. On a side note, Marcos Leonardo who a few of us on here really wanted already has 3 in 3 games as a sub for Benfica since joining last month. He will be the next one.

A lazy comparison on my part perhaps, but I get the impression from others in here that he's an Odergaard type player in terms of positional flexibility.
