Youtube disclaimer aside, that video shows why we should be exciting about Lucas joining us.

It’s not just about pace, that video shows that he has quick feet and can nip passed defenders in very small spaces, that is what we need to open up teams that sit and park the bus. It isnt just about having someone who can run quick as these teams will sit as deep as they can meaning there is no space for them to run in to. Players like Lucas can pick the lock with a quick trick or turn, with the other option being someone like Eriksen who can open it up with a pass.

As important, that video shows that he is tenacious in the tackle and can battle for a ball. It shows how well he will fit in with the high press.

Excited to see him for us, how anyone compares him with Townsend is beyond me.

For all of the season, I've been thinking about two dire needs to improve the squad (well, three, but I'm trying to turn a leaf and not slate a specific player).
1) A CM upgrade
2) One more player who can score frequently and maybe even score at opportune moments to decide a match in our favour. We basically only have 4 goals scoring players this season, and IMO, a fifth one would increase our top 4 chances a lot.

The fact that we actually may have sorted out one of those two needs according to my personal views, is almost not believable.
Imagine we had a 6th goal scorer!
And a 7th!

We’d probably have the worst defence ever.

We’d be Liverpool.

Anyway, having 4 goalscorers has been pretty good so far. After waiting a few years for one player to scrape 20 goals we’ve got an embarrassment of riches right now.

Very pleased with LM, thinking about our previous January signings, this is huge. Does anyone have a clue about his match fitness level etc, is he ready to play soon? Hopefully he adapts Poch philosophy soon.

There are always fans who go "Look at how great we are ALREDY doing, we should be so so pleased". That kind of arguing makes me bang my head against the wall, as such: :banghead:.
For me, taking into account the ambitions of the club (minimum top 4), and where we finished last season and the season before, and that we are fighting from behind for the rest of the season to reach those goals, and talking strictly my personal views and not presenting it as footballing facts, I think only having 4 frequent scorers when trying to reach top 4 from now on and out is a little bit too light, specifically when we know that we have extremely few players who contribute with 2-3-4 goals. Our pool of players who MIGHT decide a game is small, and our 5th most important goalscorer is a left back. Hence, I have been thinking, that adding one more attacking minded player who might just happen to chip in with a handful of goals would be incredibly good.

I don’t disagree that more goals equals good. I’m more worried about the drop off after the front four to be honest. An improvement on set pieces for instance should see Toby, Jan and Dave weigh in with a few more. Not happening at the moment though. I think this would be more likely than having another big scorer taking up a position on the pitch that is already filled. Dier and Dembele in particular should be getting more on target.

Haha I swear Spurs twitter are just tweeting anything and everything that might be relevant over the last couple of days just to wind up the morons who keep saying variations 'Announce Moura.' It's been quite amusing watching everyone lose their shit in teh comments section of every tweet.

I'm sure i watched a video clip of Dier and a few others practising free kicks when he first arrived.

IIRC, Dier was smashing them in and certainly made me think that he'd be a useful addition in this department.

Oh well.

Edit: In relation to post stating Dier and Dembele should score more goals.

This.
+ A BIT OF PERSPECTIVE HERE GUYS.
We don’t usually sign anyone in January, if we can confirm LM this is a bloody good signing plugging probably our biggest hole right now. We could’ve got by with no new signings this January but this is a bonus.
Also we have a great group of players and whilst we want and need to improve we don’t want to disrupt that harmony too much. That being said Dele and some other attacking options need a kick up the arse and we need another pacey tricky direct option other than just Son so LM will be just what the doctor ordered.

People now being disappointed if we don’t get Batsuai or other upgrade on llorente or a CM etc are ridiculous, that was never part of the plan and whilst in summer it will be important to do that, right now mid season we are fine, once we sign Lucas that will also free up Son to play up front again if we need to rest Kane and poch really doesn’t fancy FL we just play 4-2-3-1 but with false 9, it’s worked before. For CM Dembele has been better recently, Wanyama is back, Dele and Eriksen have shown they can drop back there if needed + we have the £30million man MR Sissoko, jack of all trades ;)

Once we confirm LM we’ll be in a great position, hopefully we can sneak into 3/4th somehow and also have good cup runs.

Next 5-6 games are huge and will define our season. COYS.

Tbf most players can smash free kicks in at training. It’s the pressure once in game mode that makes the difference

When he gets on the ball
And doesn't fall over
Then it's Moura

When he gets on the ball
And drives you loko
Then it's Sissoko

A fair point, but we've been poor in this area for a while now. The top players seem to get a decent return in this area.

Seems like we get naff all of late.

Well I’m used to us signing bloody nobody and shooting ourselves in the foot every January so for us to actually strengthen the squad is great.
