Depends what we are targeting. I’ll reserve my judgement till end of season. Would he get in City squad no, would you take him over shakiri right now no earlier in season probably. Basically lamela and him are the first line replacements. Right now I’m undecided if he is good enough as a rotation player in a team with title aspirations. Will judge end of season.

Not many backup players would get in the City squad which is probably why they're the best team in the country and he's made more of a contribution than Shaquri has this season.

I swear the way some of you evaluate players is honestly just fucking wierd. Lucas is ticking along nicely - 5 goals in the league and 2 in the CL, he's provided a valuable contribution to the team whilst others have been Injured or recovering, something we've been asking for for ages.

He's actually having a season similar to Son when he first joined. I know everybody was hoping he would be our poty but I feel that was always going to be difficult ahead of our current quartet and you can't ask much more than scoring in big moments.

On current form, our best attack is when we play with Kane, Dele, Eriksen & Son - who all have a good understanding of each other’s movements and play.

Moura & Lamela have been very good as either impact subs or when we want to change our play.

I would even say that every member of our squad this season has had positive impacts on our high percentage of wins this season.

Even the little used Llorente and Gazza have been effective whenever they have been used.

Some weird opinions in here. Lucas isn't going to be our star man, but he doesn't have to be. There isn't a squad in the league (bar City) that has better backup options in attack than we do. The comparison with Shaqiri is recency bias to the nth degree - Lucas is a far better player, and has contributed more this season.

The options we have for rotation between having Kane, Eriksen, Alli, Son, Lucas and Lamela are absolutely superb. Last position in our squad we should be thinking about selling anyone. That depth is probably the reason we are where we are in the league right now.

I fully agree with everything you said, but I can understand why some people are feeling dissapointed (not me, though). I guess it would have been more satisfying if Pochetino didn't feel the need to bring Kane in for Moura and let him rest the whole match... maybe fans are expecting Moura (and sometimes Lamela too) to get to the point in which he's good enough that Pochetino doesn't feel the need to sub him most matches (kinda like the way Poch rates Dele and Eriksen I guess).

Man City press more than we do

Mahrez doesn't. Like I said - he's the cream we can't afford.

Edit - to be clear I think Mahrez is the better player. i just don't think we could afford his work ethic. Maybe I 'm wrong but Moura's pressing is what gets him game time imo

Yes he does, he presses his arse off, just like the entire city team. You don't get in Guardiola' s team without a work ethic. Not sure which man city you're watching.

Oh well, I guess we'll just have to agree that I'm right and your wrong and just leave it that then. :cautious:

Mahrez has run the furthest of any city player this season lol. Pep said himself he’s an amazing athlete who could play every other day. You can tell as well if you took him out of a football shirt and put him in an athletics vest he’d be a perfect 800/1500m runner he just has the perfect physique for it.
