Pretty sure the board could only draw down that money last year. It’s not available now. Not that should matter anyway. We should be paying the going rate for players to make us compete. We pay the highest ticket prices.

That’s what I thought too but apparently it is still available.

We won’t, though. This was part of the issue I took with Trix’s post was that even in the event we play Dier and Romero in our opening game(s) and sign Tapsoba on deadline day, unless you have access to a parallel universe where you can see how events would’ve unfolded had we signed Tapsoba or whoever in July, there’s no way to tell if us dropping points in our opening games had anything to do with that. What if we drop points because of something completely different, what I’d we miss 2 penalties or miss 3 sitters from 6 yards out. What if Dier has a great game for 90mins and makes one mistake in injury time and we lose 1-0. There’s a million different things to consider.
I think it's fair to say you're less likely to win if you play a defender that can't defend rather than one that is quite good at it.

I never considered that. Good point. I guess it really is that black and white, no need for nuance. This football business is a piece of piss.

Precedeth most urgentlike!

cabinessence: Bit of Rock Solid. Was going to be one of the two CHs we've been linked with and a cheaper one as well. Now waiting for Harry to go and maybe buy both CHs and a younger reserve striker. Like it or not, Rich appears to be our new No. 9.

Shit club, no ambition if that's the case. Sticking with a number 9 that managed to deliver nothing last year is a recipe for disaster. As is waiting to see what scraps we get from the Kane deal.

Be happy enough with that although I'd prefer a young winger to a striker.

For those disagreeing or laughing let me explain

I'm not letting anyone off or suggesting that we shouldn't spend but I don't think it's realistic having brought Richy and with Son not really suiting a winger role in an Ange side to spend 90 million on a striker without Richy even getting a go, even if it's until January when we could maybe bring Ivan Toney in.

No Europe and a huge squad means I want targeted recruitment not publicity stunts.

Build the defence and let the attack do their thing.

It's gonna be tears again this season am afraid. With our main weapon gone that's how I see it.

I’m all for moaning but what exactly are these tears about?
We should be doing more in the transfer market, we should be backing the manager more but surely every fan with a brain in their head can see we are entering a season of massive transition? Surely no fan is entering the season expecting us to be challenging at the top, maybe not even challenging for 4th. This season separate from all the Levy bullshit is about Ange laying the foundations and coaching whatever squad he has in a completely new style and philosophy to hopefully really push on in 2024/25 season.
I’m sorry but if a fan is “crying” because maybe we don’t get CL football next season I find that very short sighted and a bit pathetic.

To be fair, this season was always going to be about bedding into a new system. It was never about winning things, so if Kane leaving allows us to settle the defence for the next few years whilst the team/squad learns this new way of playing then so be it.

What's so pathetic?!? Truth hurts and not because we won't get cl placing, which will be more difficult, but to Finnish mid to lower will!!!

Don't really understand the credit line that we apparently didn't spend but if we didn't and therefore it's no longer there couldn't we just arrange another one?

Wolfsburg are at this moment trying to sign Lovor Majer from Rennes for 20-30mil, if that one goes through I can see them being more open for a 30-35m coming their way.

We said this under Hoddle, Santini, Jol, Ramos, Redknapp, AVB, Poch, Mourinho, Conte and now Ange. The common denominator fucked it up for each of these along the way.

So much optimism given to each of these processes and all end in the same way of players sold, promises broken, gaps in squad.

I had so much optimism with Ange but again, no cb's, Kane off, no deadwood getting cleared and before long we'll have the same stories of everything looked good but Levy did a Daniel COYS thing.

So many rebuilds and new dawn's and transition years. Fuck Levy and Fuck Enic
