You basically telling me water is wet. The same defence didn't concede 63 goals the season before. There were other issues at play. If you can't critically analyze that part of my post then let's leave it there.

Im reading the latest ITK on this guy as its old baldy holding it up and that the deal SHOULD have already been done.
I would like us to get this one over the line but realistically a 22 yr old with 1 yr experience in a top league is not going to fix a defence that leaked 63 goals on his own. Surely the powers that be don't expect he will....

No, but a very different tactical approach plus additional of udogie, Emerson back fit and the suggestions we are looking to bring in more than ome CB is likely to go some way to improving the defence. Maybe not completely fixing but definitely improving

Emerson back fit? I don't think he was unavailable for any large period last season.
We are only really being heavily linked to 2 CBs, it has also been reported multiple times that we will only be signing one of them.
Is it an improvement? Yes probably but a slightly less crap defence is still a crap defence.
The summer window is when you make every attempt to resolve the team's weaknesses. VDV and a Lenglet for example is not going to be much of an improvement on last year. Particularly if we are going to attack teams more.

Lenglet was here last year so that would only be VdV.
Maybe it is just as simple as he is still on holiday seeing that he took part in the euro u21’s.

Besides, there’s no getting away from Dier and Davies being less mobile than they were two years ago

I wouldn’t be surprised if it is partly this, Skipp is still away and there is no sign of him in training yet, we could sign VDV and send them both out on tour together. But remember nothing is done until they’re pictured holding the shirt. We all should know that by now.
